Got my IForged TE-5s from John @Autobuffs. Pretty simple process: Just tell him what you want and he gets it for you.

This is not a true statement. When you receive your wheels you will also receive 4 plastic round sleeves. These sleeves are to be used and will make the wheels true hub centric. Most people don't know what they are for and just throw them away. When I received mine I didn't know either but I called and talked to the owner of Iforged.

Another thing I learned is if you get the polished aluminum lip then it makes it very hard to mount the tires without scratching them. It takes someone that really knows what they are doing, trust me. My advise is to get chrome lips.

The last thing is getting these wheels to balance. Any 3 piece wheel is going to be like this. Again, make sure who mounts these also knows how to balance them. Warning, everyone says they are experts but if they are not then you will end up with a damaged wheel. I could not find anyone that really knew what they were doing and ended up sending mine back to the factory for lip repair and have them mount and balance the tires.

It has been said the dealer is very important but I don't think so. It's getting the wheels mounted and balanced.

BTW, mine are Iforged and I would buy them again. My advise? sent them your tires and have them take care if it. Best money you will spend.

Good luck

The finish on the lips is unimportant.

Without knowing what wheels you have and the lip type, i's tough to say why you had a problem. Mine are reverse drop wheels...tires mount from the backside, and nothing in the mounting process ever touched the lip.

Iforged now makes stepped lip wheels too. (tires mount from the outside edge)...maybe this is what you have?

Default My Evos with Filliform corrosion

found these pics of the filliform corrosion on my Evos...

First, some examples of classic filliform in various stages:

In the lab...a scribed test panel...

real life example, similar to what we can expect on road wheels...

Severe example...

My IForged wheels...look in center of pics...early stages (after 2 years service)...note the 'worms' starting under the clearcoat

I thought the plastic rings were to help keep the wheel balancing spindle from maring the center. The wheels center themselves on the car via the lugnuts. My IForged are one piece and were simple to balance and the tire was rolled on the rim which didn't do any damage whatsoever. I had a very good experience with John @ Autobuffs and with IForged. My friend and owner of the high-end wheel and tire shop in Santa Barbara that mounted the tires was also impressed with the quality of the wheels.

you may be right and it may be a cause of the installer. All I know is it cost me $300 to find out

like I said everyone says they can do it right!

this has nothing to do with the wheels. They are

Seems like your still sore about your so called bad experience. Looks like a impact mark from a socket that caused your problem, I dont have microscopic mumbo jumbo to back it up though. I got this:

Just like with any accessory for these cars, it all comes down to personal preference. So in the end it's your choice!!!! However myself and the crew at Autobuffs will do our best to make sure we give the most accurate information that we can. We DO NOT manufacture these wheels, we just help supply them to the Corvette community and make sure your transaction goes as smooth as possible!!!! Good luck with your decision and please let me know if I can be of any more help.... Thanks so much

Once again guys from Autobuffs, I would like to see a document stating warranty. Please provide that to me. The link posted does give an explicit warranty or timeframe of the warranty.

Nope, just pointing out the pitfalls of 3 piece wheels so he knows what he's getting into.

I forgot to mention the gathering of water in the drop well area every time you wash the car...requires sponging out all the water before driving the car, otherwise you mess up your cleaned wheel.

Like I said, custom wheels are a whole different way of life. Just avoid getting anything clearcoated to avoid the filliform tendency. Chromed or polished is the best way to go. Chromed avoids a lot of the issues, and polished can be repaired easily. If I ever go back, I would go with 1-piece IForged to avoid most the issues.

As stated from Iforged site: This is a limited warranty. Therefore no warranties or representations, expressed or implied, are made. iForged neither assumes or authorizes any dealer, representative or other person or entity to assume for it any obligation or liability in connection with iForged products uses or applications. iForged further reserves the right to make changes or improvements in design, materials or specifications or make product changes without incurring any obligation to replace, change or improve products manufactured prior to redesign.

I can't directly answer the warranty info. You will need to call Iforged directly, as I am only a representative of their product.

Hope this helps.

Thanks John. Let me know when you get the informaiton I am looking for. If you really analyze the statement Joe copied form their website, it basiscally states that there is no warranty. How can that be? I would like to know the stipulations of the "limited warranty" they claim. Thanks.

No problem my friend.
There is a warranty as 2 of my customers took advantage of it and had small repairs done which fell under the warranty. No worries, I will get it to you after the holidays.

Don't know about the others, but I have been SUPER PLEASED with my iForged. Excellent wheels and as someone else said, when you at them, you gotta be extatic. And it's not just the wheel, the stance, the tire profile front vs rear, overall tire height etc. It all matters.

I agree with everyone. Frumnuttin, I completely understand the things you are saying. I have had HRE, CCW, and a few other brands of aftermarket wheels before. Nonetheless, an aftermarket wheel with the correct offset, in my eyes, perfect the vehicle and the stance. I have never left a car on stock wheels and don't plan to now.

In case anyone is wondering, I am looking at going with the setup that I think is the perfect setup for my C5. I will be more than likely going with the iForged Classics with brushed aluminum faces and polished lip in a 20 x 9.5 and 21 x 11" setup. Tires will be a whole other issue but I will figure that out in due time.
