Default ICONZ vs. iForged

Good day everyone. I want to know what you have and would you recommend me going with ICONZ or iForged (only looking for opinions on those two brands for wheels)?

Let me know your thoughts ASAP since I need to make a decision fast.

It's not really a wheel debate. They are both excellent wheels IMO (I have iForged - I dont think ICONZ was around when I bought my wheels). What will put a smile on your face or make you want to kill someone is the VENDOR you choose. Trust me. Pick a quality, respectable vendor (like Autobuffs) and your purchase will be a smooth, trouble free one. Pick a shady vendor (there are lots of them - especially in the wheel arena), and you will place yourself into a living hell (or at best a very expensive, long term headache).

Pick the wheel, then spend some quality research time and pick the right vendor. Having said all that, if I were in the wheel market right now, I would not hesitate a second to choose iForged (I LOVE my iForged wheels - worth every penny) and Autobuffs.

19/20" Iforged Evolutions have been on my car for nearly 7 years...no complaints at all.
Quality wheel, that have proven to be quite strong and durable, I'd buy another set in a heartbeat.

Cannot comment on the ICONZ, they seem to be a new name the wheel biz. I've not even seen them in person yet.

iForged pros.... Autobuffs deals them. Cons... Not true hub centric wheels.

You will get a lot of responses here. You should do some research on the forum to educate yourself more on the history of the two. I agree about the vendor comment as well. I don't know anything about ICONZ but if I could do it over again I wouldn't have gotten my iForged and spent a little more on hub centric wheels like HRE or Forgeline for example.

Good luck

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone.
We try to do our best to give the customer a great wheel buying experience and think we have done just that since taking over sales for an excellent product such as IForged.

If you have any questions at all..Z06Joe@AutoBuffs or myself would be glad to answer them.

Thanks again

I didn't see your car at any shows this past summer here in Northern Illinois. Are you still showing it?

After reading a post from a fellow member about a horrific experience he had with ICONZ I am definitely going with Autobuffs and iForged. I will be in touch soon guys to place the order. I will need to find the warranty for iForged wheels prior to placing the order to make sure my end is covered. I talked to Joe about this and he mentioned it was on the iForged website but I could not find it.

Awesome my friend
You do receive warranty information when you receive your wheels but if you would like written documentation before hand let me know.

You can't go wrong with iForged and Autobuffs. Their wheels are top quality, and John and his crew will go WAY out of their way for you. That you can bank on.
Joe's a great guy to work with. If he tells you something, you can bet it's to the best of his knowledge at that time. If something's wrong, he'll work his azz off to fix it, or make it right. He's a stand up guy for sure. No matter what I say about him.

Yes I would like some documentation before hand. I went to that specific page and the wording is very vague. I couldn't tell what was covered and what isn't. I need to know what is covered and for how long (or is it forever??).

I went with John at Autobuffs when I purchased my one piece forged with them last year. They took care of me with my order and had a very positive experience with them

I ran Iforged for several years. Initially many problems, but once worked out over a period of months I liked the look...but not the other issues that are common to all custom wheels. I run only stock chromeplated GM wheels now...here's why.

As beautiful as they are custom wheels are wrought with problems....especially for anyone living/driving in the northern states. They are more suited to California or Florida where potholes from freeze/thaw cycles, and other gremlins are absent. If you have well water that will cause corrosion problems unless your wheels are 100% chromeplated, meaning the center is plated separately from the rim, and the fasteners are either chromed or stainless steel. Otherwise, over time you will get white corrosion at the interface between the center and the rim...salt will collect there and attack the raw aluminum. Each time you wash your car you will add to the problem.

Also, you will get filliform corrosion at the sharp edges of the spokes and the hub opening. If you don't know what filliform corrosion is just google it. It's plagued the auto industry for decades ever since aluminum wheels became popular. It can be addressed properly by the OEMS, but the aftermarket hasn't a clue about how to correct the condition, and doesn't really care...think California/SEMA Shows/ etc.

Another major problem is the rim structure is strong enough for good roads (like in the south) but in the pothole belt you cannot avoid bent rim lips...I bent 3 of them over time and didn't even know it til I removed a wheel for rebalancing. Which brings up another issue, they are not always easy to balance correctly the first time...many of us have had to have them rebalanced several times to eliminate steering wheel jiggle...I never was able to completely get rid of all of it...watch for this if you take the plunge. Now that I think of it, from IForged one of my fronts was so far out it had to be completely replaced....luckily one of the forum members here lived and worked near the Iforged facility. Reid was kind enough to hand carry it in to show the problem and waited for it to be repaired before he left....helluva break for me. Trying to convince them from 2000 miles away the initial product was defective was a nightmare. To this day it amazes me that the wheel got out of their plant in this condition...no quality control whatsoever.

Regarding warranty, I too wanted it explained and in writing. I finally gave up after months of trying...I don't believe there is one and if there is best of luck proving you have a problem and getting it repaired at no cost.

Also, keeping them clean is mandatory and at the same time a real time hog. I now can do all 4 wheels in the time it took to do one custom wheel.

Also, should you wreck one of your custom wheels best of luck getting a replacement quickly, let alone at all. With stock GM wheels this will never be a problem.

I know they have come a long way since those days, but for the reasons I stated above it is very unlikely I will go the custom route again.

I could go on, but I hope what I have stated here will help you make a decision...enjoy whatever you do.

iForged and the Autobuffs crew are a great match up of a great product, and a great service.

I recommend dealing with Autobuffs for all your wheel needs.

Here are pics of my 2 iForged cars.

John, Joe, Jan and the rest of the AutoBuffs crew are one of those businesses that you will buy from over and over again because of the professionalism they show to each of there current and future customers. (I think I need a comma in there somewhere

As with so many things - a product is only as good as the person or company selling it. iForged has had a lot of issues over the years here on the forum - but almost every one of the problems could be attributed to the dealer selling them. I have iForged Equips on my black car and have had no quality or fitment issues in four years. Yes - they are not hubcentric, but iForged does provide hubcentric rings that will make them fit....which is a fairly common practice in the wheel industry.

My issue four years ago was delivery times. I was promised a much shorter time than the actual time. In fairness - Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years were in the delivery window.

I've since had the opportunity to speak with the owner of iForged at SEMA this year. When I walked away after we were through talking, I left impressed that iForged's problems were behind them. He assured me that they have culled a lot of the dealers that were simply Internet dealers - that had no real quantifiable wheel experience with fitments, etc. He also told me that JPM and AutoBuffs was doing an excellent job representing them (from what I've seen here on the CF, I would agree).

ICONZ - my only experience with them is what I've read here, and there have been a couple of cases that were less than positive. Now - were those isolated cases? I hope so. From a quality and fitment perspective - I've seen a couple of sets, and they look pretty good cosmetically. I cannot vouch for their strength or durability like I can for iForged. I'm happy with my iForged - but frankly if I were going to purchase new custom wheels again today - I would more than likely go with HRE.

Hope this helps - and I hope that I have not offended either iForged, AutoBuffs or ICONZ.....certainly that was not my intention.
