Anyone have a write-up on how to use Seafoam on a C5. I want to use it to see how much carbon buildup may be in the engine so I believe you just slowly pour it through a vaccuum line. I am not sure which line to use. Anyone done this before and happen to snap some pics along the way?
Hi, I just pull the brake booster line while the car is running and suck it through there. I've also taken to pulling the spark plugs and spraying a bit into the chamber, not sure if it helps but I use so little there is no chance of hydrolock. Good luck and some people tell you to change plugs after seafoaming, might be worth it if you have old plugs.
I pulled the brake booster line and did mine. Before my car had a slightly rough idle but after doing it the car idles perfectly smooth. I will probably do it again in the spring just to make sure I got everything out. Someone posted a link to a thread on ls1tech and it was very thorough in how to do it. It only takes a couple of minutes to do it then let it sit for a while and come back to crank it up.

My tuner Seafoamed my car before headers, new plugs, wires and dyno tune. Jim, Hex on this forum, said he didn't bother with the exhaust vent system because my car was pretty low miles at the time. I forgot to tell him that the previous owner had rarely drivin the car for long trips. City vettes smoke up a storm! Took half an hour to clear his shop.
When i got my Z06 in Feb it had 44k miles. 1st thing i did was seafoam it and to my surprise barely any smoke came out the exhaust. I was speechless cause when i would do it to my camaro, that thing would smoke up a storm. What i did was put it in the booster and in the gas tank. That link provided to LS1tech should tell you.
Goodluck and yes be sure to take pictures of the smoke if it gets really heavy!
Alex - I've done mine but didn't really get a Lot of smoke - I'll likely do it again but leave it overnight to loosen more carbon (only let it set 2 hours before) ... also think sucking it in through a line at the front of the manifold would be better than the brake booster -- likely gets most of the seafoam in the back cylinders that way. Comment above about putting it in though the spark plug holes sounds interesting.
