I've seen one ragtop Z before, however the owner stated he'd done it himself. (Nice job by the way)

I'd want to see documents from Chevy proving this is a factory car. You're talking to a forum of Corvette "experts" and if they all say 'No Way' then that's the direction I'd take.

Look at the pics in the listing, there's one that indicates the company that made the "Limited Edition", number 103.

The owner of this particular Z06 Vert always put a sign (disclaimer) on the windshield whenever he went to shows or parked it along with other Vettes to let everyone know that in fact it was a Z06. It was black in color with black top. A really unique and beautiful ride.

when i found/bought mine (after extensive research for its authenticity), i contacted Roger's Corvettes in Fla. for info re: the conversion. they said they've done a few and that it's "fairly" straightforward in that the c5z0's have the convertible bracing incorporated in the frame and due to the trunk/fenders being the same pieces from the 'verts to the z0's. that may be the "company" you were talking about.

and since mine is a triple black example, i wonder if it's the same one as your club member's if he had gotten rid of it?

i, too, display "proof" of its heritage at show-n-shines by having a full description/VIN info and also a copy of the original sticker from the Corvette Museum. after 2 years, it still amazes me how many "experts" can't see the possibility of the conversion being done.

i know illmac77 (forum member) recently (past year or so) 'verted his z0 and did a fine job with it.

i can see how many z0 owners might scratch their heads over the thought of "cutting the roof off" their FRC's. i often wonder if i'd have had the nads to do it had i originally bought mine with the FRC in place. probably not....lol.

but i am truly glad my '02 'verted z0 and i found each other and, at least for the near-future, can't imagine opening my garage and not having her sitting there.

just my .02,

rich

I don't think anyone was saying they don't excists, or its not a Z06, everyone (how I understand it) is saying the same thing I am about to say........ it's not factory...... NO WAY! I know they excists to, 2 different companys I have heard of make them. I have even seen one here in Colorado (red). But unlike the idiot in the ad says, it's not factory, factory parts......... sure, made in good ol KY that way, NOPE.......

Honestly, the only body differences between a Z and a vert with a hardtop is the hardtop is stuck in place, there's a hole where the top would be folded away, there's no waterfall, there are no brake ducts, and the windshield is thinner. It's practically a bolt-in deal.

Yes we all know there were no C5 Z06 convertibles. Read the ad again and there is no mention of this car being an OEM, Factory convertible. This salesperson steps around making that statement. yes this cars Vin indicates that it is a Z06 and the ragtop shows that it is a convertible. But one of ten from the company/individual who did the conversion. As Irvbulldogs72 mentions , it is a realtively easy conversion .Much easier than converting my 1979 Trans Am T top to a convertible ( 1 of approx 100 )
