[Z06] Short Shifter?????
The feel is tight, short and smooth. This is not an advertisement, I just wanted to add that this is the best all around shifter I have ever tried on a vette. I hate the slopiness of the stock C5 shifters and the notchiness of most aftermarket shifters.
I hope this does not look like an ad, and I'm sorry if it does. Just adding to the thread....

Given that the inherant shifting issue will never be totally resolved until the transmission housing is strengthened to afford less flex.
The C5 /C6 coupe, convertible manual tranny use the rubber mount bushings and they feel , well lets just say they are not as 'firm' as the solid bushing shift box does. Granted there is a little less 'road 'vibration with the (2001-2008) Z06 solid mounted shift box.
I find that the notchy issues are enhanced with the short throw shifters. The name brand aftermarket shifters are far and away superior in construction. But they are short throw (35%).
I removed the C6 shifter arm assembly. replaced that with a Hurst C6( not C5 Hurst). By extending the shifter arm of the C6 Hurst 3915086 two (2) inches , and using the lightest set of bias tension springs, and turning down .062 from the M12 dentent bolt (* I use both Hurst 2.0 inch shifter ball or a lightened Hurst T handle) I have to this point found a decent combination of smooth and precise shifting.
Now if I can reduce the tranny noise that is amplified by the solid shifter arm with out using an insulated shifter arm.
