I think the winter gods hate me.....because yesterday when moving my C5 from the driveway to its garage I heard a sudden "plop" sound.......first I could not understand what it was but then I saw suddenly a growing crack in my front winshield......I felt like crying
The complete window needs to be changed.....fortunately I have an insurance for it.
When driving the 2 KM stretch to my garage the clutch problem continued, this together with the window and electronic errors made me quite frustrated and turned me in a bad mood.
I arrived and then I opened my garage door and turned my corvette in the garage to drive onto my car lift. After having her sit on the lift I cleaned the floor and I suddenly saw a red colored line on the wall of my garage.....to be honest guys I fell to my knees and called myself the biggest moron on the planet..... I left and when home........
Today I had the nerve to check the damage......
I keep wondering why this all needed to happen.......???
Man that's awful... At least the front damage looks to be only surface which can be sanded and repainted. Wonder why the window popped? How cold was it?
That's strange. -9 celsius is not that cold. Windshields do not just crack because of cold temperatures unless there already was a small existing crack somewhere. Do you know if the windshield is original or aftermarket? If it's aftermarket, then there is a possibility that the installation wasn't done properly or the windshield was damaged during the installation process.
The window was original. I inspected the crack yesterday evening and it seems that it originated from a small pitt in the window created by a little stone.

That would do it!! With that extreme cold ANY slight flaw would be stressed! Are you still having the clutch problem, and have you flushed/changed the fluid.I'm assuming with the temperatures you have that in warmer weather you have quite a bit of humidity. Since the fluid is just brake fluid it does absorb moisture from the air. With those temps you have the slightest hint of moisture would create problems. Sympathy on the damage,I know that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when that happens!! Hang on,,Spring is only about 90 days away!! PS,,yes some other forum members have had some cold problems. One ploiece officer from New Jersey came out late on a winter night,,started to drive home,,turned on his rear window defroster,,,and the glass exploded. Drove home with an open rear hatch!!
Don't be too hard on yourself. We've all done things like that at one time or another. I sometimes amaze myself at my own stupidity. Maybe you need a new Tiger Shark front end.
WOW, I thought we (in the US) had some strict gun laws (about concealed carry), but that's ridiculous ! As far as I know, all states allow you to own a gun in your house/home (on your property) and use it against a burglar or intruder.
Hope you soolve your problems, let us know what they were.
Perhaps you should take up baseball or golf. Seems we have a blonde here in the states, from your neck of the WOODS, that can control things pretty good with a golf club!!!

Yep! That will do it everytime. Believe me, I know. We deal with it every winter. Around here, -9 Celsius is actually balmy weather for the months of January and February.
I cannot wait until this is all over and I go for my first spring ride in my Vette.
