I was just getting worried so I just ask for your input. Normally my C5 is stored in a closed garage, but since they tried to break in 2 weeks ago the car has been sitting outisde....untill the doors of the garage are fixed again.
So after sitting outside for 2 weeks in some snowy and winter temperatures ranging between -3 and +6 degrees celcius I faced the following which got me worried:
- my clutch pedal does NOT come back up in full (even after a 10 minute drive)
- I get various maintenance warnings about: ABS, Traction Control and other items
I never has anything wrong with the car! she never had an error and now suddenly this. Is this because it sat outside for 2 weeks in the cold???
You must make sure that you have your battery under a trickle/full charge , in regards to electrical problems. In regards to the clutch not coming up all the way, maybe there is some condensation/water mixed in w/ the hyd. fluid? Suggest changing out if hadn't done so. Try Prestone syn Dot #4. I feel for you because it's cold up here in Michigan too. I keep mine in the garage as well. Maybe you could temporally keep your car in a friends/relatives garage until garage door is fixed? Good luck.
My Vette never leaves the garage unless it's a nice sunny day, which is about 360 per year here in AZ.
Mid 60's here today.
I've spent 45 Minnesota winters, so I know what cold and snow is and yes, it does get a bit warm here in the summer, but I would never go back to the deep freeze.
Can't comment on the clutch pedal issue but I doubt its related to a cold soak. If it is, just move it back inside and see where you are before you try any fixes.
My guess on the ABS problem is it may be that you have moisture in the connectors on the hubs. Problems with moisture has been known to throw up codes. As a start, pull the connectors and give them a clean and all may be well.

How old is your brake and clutch fluid? Hydraulic fluids are hygroscopic (absorb water from air humidity). There would be quite a bit of water condensing in the fluid if it went from a heated garage to the outside cold and sat there for two weeks. The fluid would be the first thing to look at. The error messages can also be caused by a weak battery but that would not account for the clutch pedal problem. Prestone Dot 4 is what I used when I changed out my clutch and brake fluid. It is supposed to be a little better than the OEM fluid and is also synthetic.
I change all fluids every year in january/february when the annual road check is coming up. So its less then a year old, but is schedule for being changed anyway.
I am not such a specialist in the C5 (more C2) so can you guys please give me an idea which plugs i need to clean up in regards to the error messages!?
Normally my cars always are stored inside, but 2 weeks ago some ...... took out my walk in and overhead door in the attempt to steal my C5. Hopefully she can go back in next week.

You may need to flush the clutch fluid. Some people have had problems with the clutch pedal sticking to the floor on C5s and C6s. The best thing to do is to read up on Ranger's method of flushing the clutch fluid without going under the car.
The electrical problems could be caused by several things including a low battery. Make sure the battery is charged and then display the diagnostic codes using the Driver Info Center. To do that turn on the ignition then push and hold the options button followed by pushing the fuel button 4 times. The car will go into an automatic display sequence and will display every code present in every subsystem of the car. The sequence will start with the PCM codes followed by the TCS codes and then the others. Codes are shown as an Alpha Character followed by 4 numerical characters followed by either an H or a C or both an H and C. H stands for history and C stands for current. Read the codes and post here.
My first concern is that someone tried to steal your car and now it's being parked outside? Hopefully not in the same driveway. Sorry to here that. As far as the abs problems, they are more than likely due to getting a little condensation and one of the connectors that go from the wheel bearing hub (which houses the abs sensor) to the connector on the frame of the car inside the wheel well area. It is a short length of flexible cable with 2 connector ends, that connects the hub bearing sensor to the electrical system. Just allowing the car to warm up inside again may be enough to alleviate that problem. Try checking your diagnostic codes for exactly what codes came up. This will help to pinpoint the problem if it reoccures. As far as he clutch goes, I'm not certain, but sounds like it's cold or condensation related. this to may go away with time in a warm garage. What are your plans to help secure your garage? Pitbull, alarm system, gun or all 3.
Thanks guys, I will put all your advise in practice in the coming days.
FYI the car is not parked on the same drive way. My garage is on a new industrial zone 2 km from my house. The car now sits at home.
Protection on securing the building.....well a gun is not an option since I live in The Netherlands. In this country it is even the case that if I shoot a burglar in his foot (when I catch him red handed) I will be arrested for violence and the burglar can go home.....so this leaves only securing of the building. I will have some measures taken next week by some specialists, but an alarm system will be for sure on of the options.

WOW, I thought we (in the US) had some strict gun laws (about concealed carry), but that's ridiculous ! As far as I know, all states allow you to own a gun in your house/home (on your property) and use it against a burglar or intruder.
Hope you soolve your problems, let us know what they were.

Unfortunately, this is the same in Canada. If I shoot an intruder in my own house, I can be charged with aggression with a dangerous weapon or man slaughter, no matter what the intruder's intentions were. It's ridiculous and I don't pay much attention to it. I would rather be alive and facing charges for having defended my family than dead (having followed the law).
In England I cant even own a handgun. If I don't use equivalent force I can be charged with actual bodily harm. So if he breaks in unarmed and I hit him with a baseball bat and do him damage I get charged.

I live by the rule:
"It is better to be judged by 12 (court jury) than carried by 6!" (coffin carriers)

Justice is strange sometimes....
Easy.....keep two bats in the house......After you knock him out with one, stick the other in his hands, take a few pics and then call the bobies (cops)....
WOW. Here in AZ you can get a concealed carry permit for $99, a 4 hour class and must pass a federal background check.
Any non-felon can carry a gun without a permit as long as it's in plain sight, only exceptions are: not in bars and if the store has a sign saying "No Firearms".
