JS, try cleaning the resistor pelet on your key with some denatured alcohol. I believe the message to be concerned about is "Service Column Lock", not "Pull Key Wait 10 Seconds", with regard to the column locking up.

If you can turn your steering wheel to left and right without the key in, then you've got a CLB installed...
