I just installed the steering column lock bypass on the 20002 Z06. From the time I started getting tools out until I finished putting them away was 40 minutes. It was a very easy install.
I just ordered mine yesterday. Should be here mid week. It's good to hear it won't take me more than 2 hours......for me that is....I always say " multiply by two and add a third"
I got mine but I can not get the knee pad panel off. I am afraid of braking the clips. Can someone tell the trick to getting out the inserts in the panel?
I've had my car for almost two years, and I have put 40K miles on it. It was supposed to have the column lock bypass in it when I bought it, and just yesterday, I got the "pull key wait 10 seconds message"
I did this and it started right up, so I don't know what the deal was.

If by the inserts you mean the cover for the inside temp. sensor and the cover for the trunk release, all I did was use a small, stiff putty knife. I inserted it at the bottom of the inserets and they just popped loose.
After taking the two bolts loose where the inserts were and the two torx head screws loose on the bottom of the panel, I just pulled, first at the inside end of the panel and then the outer end. It lakes a fairly good pull to get the panels loose.
I bought mine from Corvettes of Dallas for $ 50.00. Many vendors sell them for $ 50.00.
I had no problems. I just followed the instructions. It was very easy.

Sorry couldn't resist
GM has made me promise to not post photos of this very special future car I have. If you are willing to wait about 18000 years you will be able to buy one, but for now I have the only one on the road.
Where did everyone buy theirs, and how much was it?
BTW, a local Chevy dealership has offered to goodwill my vehicle with the dealer fix for this problem. I'm thinking I might just do it myself anyway.
By all means,,DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH IT!!!!!!! The add a program to your computer that ADD problems,,rather that helps the situation!!!! Part of the fix is programming in the 2 MPH fuel cut off,,,and WHEN not IF the recall "K-harness fails you wont move,,and you will need a tow!!

Perhaps the best 40 minutes you'll spend with the car, short of actually driving it. Nice peace of mind to know that the column lock issue is taken care of.
The CLB and CAGS eliminator were the first mods I did when I got the Vette 13 months ago-My column lock was working fine, but getting stranded in the Vette was just something I didn't want to happen.
And the CAGS,well that was just annoying as hell,so I got rid of it too.
A co-worker of mine drives a 99 Nassau Blue coupe, and the other day I asked him if if he'd installed a CLB-he laughed and said they were Bull***t,and he's never heard of a column lock failing. (not a forum guy).
He said his has gotten "stuck' a few times, but there's "no way it's gonna fail, and if it ever does,I'll worry about it then"
And so he will...
