NO, can't shift because you can't press the the button down. Is is a pretty good anti-theft device. It's ONLY good on an automatic of course. It's very hard to remove without a key. Unlike the bar across the steering wheel, one can cut the wheel and remove the bar.

Definitely the way to go. I have an automatic coupe, so I bought the remote start version of the LE2. Took friggin forever to install and was complicated, but man there is nothing better on a cold morning than having your car warm up for you before you even walk out the door.
