Default Kooks Headers Issues?

Hey Guys and Gals. Question. I have an 02 vert. The car came with Borla two tube cat backs, not sure if the x-pipe is Borla or OEM. At any rate I'm considering putting on Kooks long tube headers. Are there any installation issues with the long tubes? I'm assuming any good exaust shop could perform the install. What do I need to buy and/or look out for? Thanks. (Will it EVER get warm again?!)

Well, understand that your x-pipe will not directly bolt up to the headers (sorry if this is so obvious that I shouldn't even mention it), as they are much "longer" than the stock exhaust manifolds. It will need to be cut, and welded (shorter).

I just did the install last spring on my car. If you need some tips and/or pointers, let me know. The Kooks instructions are pretty straight forward.

If you don't have the ability to cut and weld yourself, you may be better off having an exhaust shop do the work.

I am not really understanding you question. If you run our headers you will need to run our x pipe. We do offer a stock cat hook up for the C-5 that will allow you to run your factory cats.

I have KOOKS LT's and Offroad x-pipe, with no cats. No cutting or welding needed. They bolt right up. Great product and they really woke the Borla Stingers up....along with all of my neighbors!

My point was the he will have to alter his "Borla or OEM" x-pipe (or h-pipe if really OEM) because it is currently mated to a stock exhaust manifold. I realize that if you buy the headers and x-pipe as a pair, nothing will need to be altered.

He said he was "considering putting on Kooks long tube headers", but did not mention a "new" x-pipe.
