Default C5 Value

Hey guys I have been lurking here for a while but I am about ready to buy myself a Vette. I was waiting to get a C6 however a friend of the family is selling his C5 and it is near perfect. My question to you guys is what do you think the car is worth, its a 1997 Coupe 6 speed. 58k Miles and in mint condition with a few minor blemishes. I know the current owner and it was not beat on or anything like that. Car starts sounds runs and drives perfect.

Any Input is very much appreciated.

15-16k. if i were you i would get a z06. for some reason the prices on the z06's are dropping like crazy lately. i have see a few with 85k miles go for 17,500. if prices were this good last year i probably would have gotten a z instead of my frc. i like my frc though because its a little more unique . but with 3.5k extra for mods it would probably make more power than a z06.

Anywhere from $14,000 to $19,000. Price for used Corvette's really depend on what people are willing to pay. But if you can get it for say $16,000 I think you would be doing good.

It certainly looks to be in good condition/miles.
It's 13 years old though!
11-15 if you ask me.

You know the owner and you said it has been taken care of. That is worth a little extra - maybe $15,000.

Based on what I paid for my '99 last year in nearby CT, I suggest $13K is the right amount...

I purchased my 97 2 years ago for $15k w/85k mi and in good - not great condition. I bought it to work on and detail out as time and mood allows. We have been to Florida (26-2800 mi round trip) 3 times, have great confidence in its reliability and love the car. Done many little things to it and its starting to look great.

But More Like $12k for that year.

In December 2009 (a month ago) I just bought a near perfect 99 Coupe with only 24,000 miles on it - Torch Red FULLY Loaded with the Performance Gear Ratio Axle and HUD and Telescoping Steeering Wheel, Memory Package, Dual Power Sport Seats, In-Dash CD and CD Changer in rear, ect, ect and everthing else.

I paid $15,500 and it is a 99 - That was HIGH Private Party Blue Book Value but gladly paid it.

Mine had the Silver Painted Wagon Wheels too - Within 2 weeks I found a Set of Chrome Thin Spokes with perfect Chrome in perf condition WITH the Tire Pressure Sensors in them (I didn't use them though) - I paid $200 for the set of wheels with sensors.

So don't let the wheels detour you about the purchase.

This 97 should be around $12k

If someone sells that car for 12-13K, they are either, A. Needing cash really bad, or B. Doing you a big favor.

I'd say that for a car like that, from what I've seen, the normal asking price on the auto/corvette trader sites, and even here, would be between 15 and 17K.

NADA clean trade in - $14,550, clean retail - $17,925.

Blue Book is between $11k and $13k (give or take a little bit)

$15k will get you a nice 99 (got mine for $15,500 with 24,000 miles on it)

$17k - $18k will get you a nice 2001 - I have even seen them on dealer lots for 17 - 18k

Auto Trader and Corvette Trader are WAYYYYY overpriced and they don't sell. I looked for almost 6 months and saw the same cars listed month after month after month x's 6 (lol). They can ask anything they want but will it sell ? I can list a pair of my shoes for $1,000 but what does that mean - That my shoes are worth $1,000 (lol) ????

Craiglslist worked for me. But even their they had dreaming prices and the cars just stayed on there for months (still the same cars there in my area after 5 months now)

I'm sure there are lots of vettes in HB, cali and that will effect local prices, but I couldn't find one in my area for nothing near that kind of deal. I did find a few in other parts of the country that were pretty good deals but by the time I took off work and traveled to go get it, cost was back up to prices in my area.
