Hi fellow forum members, new here, my question is this , what are considered true modifications, and how do these modifications effect the cars value thanks 00redcorvette.
Its subjective. Some consider subtle changes like vette symbol valve caps a mod, some are of the school that it has to require at least some assembly-installation process. And others are of the opinion that it has to be engine-performance related.
thanks , thats kinda what I thought , its whatever you want to do to it, that makes you happy, I am considering putting those wheels under the front end to keep it from dragging when you hit a low spot. any comments on that one modification.
As stated earlier, it is all in the eyes of the beholder. It is your car so if you change anything that was factory original to an after market product, you can say if is modified. I have changed the wheels, an aftermarket low restriction exhaust system, engine dress up and I am waiting on my new rear low profile spoiler to be delievered. So I guess you could say mine is modified.
thanks, I have added, decals to front and back, new wheels, c6 spider style, and am thinking of several other items, such as screens all the way around, and those wheels under the front end which I will have to drill a hole in frame for , that is the mod I was most concerned about.
Anything you change from stock is technically a modification. The effect they have on the value is subjective and dependent on what the mod is. Minor mods like a two-tone shift boot wouldn't affect the value at all where a major mod like a supercharger would.

Stock is stock and mods are not, mine is still stock

To me, a mod is anything that you do to change the car from stock. As to how it effects the value of the car - you usually won't get much in return for your investment, but depending on the buyer's tastes it may be a positive or a negative when you go to sell the car.
The front rollers are a great addition and an inexpensive one that make sense.
From my limited vantage point most mods do not give any kind of real increase in the cars value to someone else. I do it because it's mine and helps me enjoy the car more.
When you read different threads on the forum you will see most start bringing the car back to stock when they are going to sell. They sell the mods and re-coupe some of their money. Look at some of the members who have spent 10's of thousands of dollars on their car and when selling are looking for far less than they invested. Doesn't make it wrong unless you do it thinking you are going to sell for what you have put in.
