Seriously, I'm in the O.C. and in a 2002 Z ins is 127 a month fully covered on a daily driver with tickets. State Farm fosho! Well unless your 25 or less then good luck in any car in cali.
And seriously man, Pull the trigger. You just can't beat American Muscle especially for the price or reliability. This has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Seriously! I beat the snot out of it and the car almost laughs it off and ask's for more.

Get your Z you won't be disappointed.

you should be able to figure out relative merits of these cars in various auto-x classes by posting that particular question in here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...roadracing-23/

How old are you 50th? You act like your 17. Grow up seriously.

STIs are plenty capable on the track and on the street, you have probably never been on a road course to know that though.

I would love an STI wagon for a daily, good little cars with plenty of pep. They handle and brake excellent.

To the OP - I can't imagine the insurance being any higher on a Z06 then what you pay now. Completely different age range, and risk factors. Z06s are great cars, they are a handful if you are not used to the power and RWD be careful whatever you decide. Z06s can be decent daily drivers, but the car you have now is much better for that.

How does it not compare? What do you think a 97 vette runs in the 1/4? 13s. On a tight track i think the STI would absolutely eat up the vette on crappy runflats.

Oh right you said it was ugly therefore it doesn't compare to a vette. Good point...

Good luck with the purchase...

As far as insurance... I would look into "collector" car insurance.. Grundy for example. I pay $340 a year full coverage. You have to have another car as your daily driver though.. At your age buying a cheap beater and having liability on it would be cheaper than traditional insurance on a Z maybe

Hello Cole. I think this is the reason that some find the insurance on the Vette to be cheaper (the Evos and Stis are assocaited with younger drivers). I've heard several stories about insurance being cheaper moving to the Vette. When I bought my first Vette like 8 years ago, I was shocked at how reasonable the insurance was (and I didn't have the cleanest of records either ).

As someone already posted, you are really going to notice the difference on a road course. The Vette will force you to be a better driver, and will reward you greatly as you gain experience.

Nice Subbie by the way. One of my freinds has the last gen.

If you start looking around for one be sure to check in here. ALot of us have dealt with the common Vette issues and can provide you some really good advice. 4 Vettes later I still seem to learn something new each time I post on here.

Check out the sticky thread in C5 General that will walk you through C5 basics. It'll open your eyes to some of the things to look for.

I think you need to change insurance companies! Im 23 and I pay like $65 a month for full coverage on my 01Z, its not the primary. This is through State Farm. My driving record is clean also.

He'll be "that guy" who shows up to a autox and sits there at the end of the day scratching his head thinking how the heck did a HS Mini beat me. I have the almighty Z06 or how at the end of the track day how a rusty old Scirocco lapped him a few times each session.

No i'm a guy that respects and appreciates all different makes of cars. No respect for these cars? Right instead of dicking around on the streets i take it to the track to learn what it can really do. You really just have no idea. Get off your horse, your not that high and almighty. I didn't buy my corvette for a status symbol, I bought it to enjoy it.

His car will never see any kind of racing event so he'll never know.

What he said. Im a car guy and has been for a long time. As far as having a ZO6 im loving it. As far as respecting other cars, youll run across one at some point where you have to. For instance I got spanked once by a pretty modded EVO as well as a pretty sick new Camaro.( Heavily modded of course.)
