Default Fuel tank cover plates?

Hey guys, my vette is in storage for winter and was doing some cleaning. I was going to remove the plates under the tank to clean them but it seemed like the tank wanted to drop out of the car. My question is, is that whats holding the tank up or is there braces that i'm not seeing securing the tank from falling. I have a full tank of gas helping to weigh it down just don't want the tank falling out. If anyone has an answer that would be great just don't want any surprises like the tank falling on me. Thanks

I have pulled mine off for cleaning and the tanks did not fall out. Did not have any problems when I took them off.

Tank Guards are what I think they're called. My car doesn't even have them anymore for some reason and my tanks stay in there fine.
