black on black '03 w/ 67k and a clean title, but possibly the roughest z06 I've ever seen as far as cosmetically(cracked front bumper, curb rashed chrome wheels, broken armrest, headliner taped, faux wood grain trim, broken speaker grilles, torn seats)...would make a perfect track car!

hard to say without pics but, sounds pretty abused to me. I'd be more worried about the mechanicals considering the cosmetic condition.

this should be locked, take what KBB wants for a beat to hell Z06 and go from there.........these "whats it worth" threads rank right up there with "whats it run" or "thinking about buying" or "who would win" just take what the book is and go from there, chances are the book will be showing less value then what the owners probably willing to take IMO so use that as your buying point "well blue book is..."

strong opinion newb and appreciate you starting your own thread if you want to rant...I can't explain the details of this possible purchase, but was just looking for some opinion on what a track car might go for as this isn't your avg vette for sale and there's no negotiation on the price

can't do that unfortunately, kbb is showing 18k for poor private party... yeah the cosmetic neglect makes me wonder about the mechanical too, who does this to an anniversary z06? They should have their license taken!

for a couple thousand more you can find a nice unabused one. I bought my '04 with 36,000 miles from the original owner for $21k.

If the purchase would be used strictly for the track, and the cosmetics wouldn't really matter, I would say that the car is worth whatever the buyer is willing to invest depending on the potential usage. One way to estimate the worth would be to calculate the cost to bring the cosmetics up to "snuff" and go from there based on the present going prices for same year, model and mileage. Of course, these calculations are making the assumption that the motor and drivetrain are in good shape. All that being said, I would estimate the worth, in present condition, to be around $14,000 to $16,000, but that is speculation since I have never seen the car.

Looking for a beater Z myself for a track car. Not that anyone would buy a beater & trailer it straight to the track. The fun begins with the build & finishes up at the track. Hope you get a good deal, would offer around 14,500 - 13,500 - he might take it!

Is this private or car dealer? They should be damn flexible on their price. I wouldn't pay more than low to mid teens. 16k tops. I looked at an 03 in mint and the guy only wanted 20k for it. Had 50k miles. Especially considering the current economy and time of year you should be able to jew the guy down quite a bit, even below KBB blue book trade in. Tell the guy selling it there is a ton of sh** wrong and its gonna cost you a boat load to fix it and use that as a bargaining chip. Hopefully he won't call your bluff.

Doesn't matter, Chris has no idea what he is talking about, and has yet to make a 1/4 mile pass......

Good luck on the buy Chris, hope the FRC is working out. I won't hijack your thread, but give me a post on my wall about your spec clutch. Mine stinks, I'll be heading to HMP for some 1/8 mile passes today(not lauching the car with this clutch, can't afford to break).

So, Back to the Top.

Mark

Thanks for the all the "useful" replies it was an auction car and I decided to pass, not knowing enough of it's history about previous owner...just finished breaking in the stage 2 and I like the way it feels so far(a little stiffer/grabbier than stock yet can still be slipped), superbowl sun will be the real test as that's opening day for the track!
