While getting my hair cut today my barber said, "sure is a nice car you have." I said 'thanks, I really like it, most people don't know that it's 13 yrs old.' She said "What? Really? It looks brand new."
It sure made me feel good to have such a timeless designed car. I love it.
You should give her a ride and show her how that old car handles too.
BTW unless it's an old dude in his own shop by himself, there called stylists. Don't want to seem old or anything.
The first day I drove my 97' last month a woman stopped dead in the street of our subdivision and got out of her car, she said her husband just bought a 2008 Corvette and mine looked newer and nicer then his! She was amazed it was a 13 year old car.
I get the same sort of thing all the time. I once had a C6 owner at a show describe why HE tended to like the C5 style a bit more!
I'm told by my 27 YO son that most guys from his generation like the C6 and feel it is newer-looking, but for a lot of people over 40, it really is the opposite. I agree most Vette owners do keep their cars really nice so the older ones look new -- and then it gets down to style preference...
I think I'm going to ask for some Federal Stimulus money in the form of a grant to do the definitive study on C5 vs. C6 preferences by age group. Beats sitting around collecting unemployment
actually, I nice C4 sitting on its own, without a C5 or a C6 beside it will fool most non-Corvette people. Every one seems to think that Corvettes are very expensive, and if they're in good shape, people think they are fairly new.
C4 in there day were very cool, and still are.

I liked mine. When it was all clean and shiny (rare occurrence for a black DD) it got its share of compliments...
You think anyone with a C4 has that same problem???
You know you're all thinking it...why am I the bad guy when I say it?

My C5 only has 10,800mi. so it basically is new. Not many people can tell that it's 9 years old.

I actually got a great compliment on my 87 last week. It was really cool to hear that about my 23 year old Vette , especially from someone that was probably younger than the car itself.
When kept up any year Vette will get noticed and appreciated, especially from those who have never had the privileged of owning one.
So funny...I just get back from deep in India couple weeks ago and ask one of the guys there (who really does not know what a Corvette is) two questions showing the photo below on my computer:
1. Which design is the latest model?
2. Which design would you prefer to have as your own vehicle?
He picked the dark red one for both questions
Try this with some kids or way old folks and see what the results show!
RedC5 gave me an idea. I copied his pictures and sent them to a bunch of friends and acquaintences NOT from the Vette community. Asked the same 2 questions he did.
Early results are striking. The C5 and C6 are about tied in the "which design is latest" poll. The C5 is well ahead on the "which design would you prefer to have..." question.
I'll keep you posted. I am not surprised, though -- my poll skews toward the older-than-40 crowd...
