Got ya,,,general consensus,,save your money,,especially at that silly price. $5 maybe ,,$50!! Actually not worth 5 bucks either!! Just like smooth air couplers,,they DO look nice,,but that's it!!
Well actually the smooth fresh air coupler does increase and direct air flow over the OEM accordian duct. The science principles are sound and factual. The most recent application were used on highway diesel engines as to help address the EPA and CARB requirements . Granted that the fresh air intake ducting is much much longer than the Vette's coupler and thus the gains to the diesel application is more dramatic but the principle still applies.
Basis in point is the direct flow of air is not disturbed. Same principle is practiced on the 2001 Z06 screened MAF and the revised 2002- LS6 descreened MAF. The point of the MAF screen originally was to 'straighten' out the air flow. After the fresh air intake ducting and air box had been revised in 2001 M/Y, GM engineers discoverd that the air flow straightening screen was not needed . The result of that change ( descreen )alone resulted in an additional 5 hp on the 2002 LS6 M/Y. (info. resource : Assistant Cheif Engineer for GEN 3 engines , John Juriga statements in 2002) Also note that the 2001 LS6 MAF can be descreened also with hp increases.
My comments are just to keep the facts clear.
