i use the broadest setting on my power washer, but you could use a garden hose...
Keep the hood up to let it drip dry and then let it eaither dry in the sun or close the hood and go for a long drive so the engine heat dries it...

Once dry. remove and spray paint with several LIGHT coats of rusoleum flat balck BBQ paint.
Thanks

Default cleaning hood pad .........

I soaked mine in an old kids blowup pool, using TSP and warm water. Let it set a day or two. Lightly spray off the Pad as it sits horizonal on some plastic lattise. Wait till completely dry.

Oh I use an upholstery tack remover to remove the black push pins.

Then I used matte black paint ( flat does not look correct and gloss does not either in my opinion) to spray.

I also installed the C5 logo ( vinyl) emblem (got it off Ebay $24). I then masked off around the logo emblem and sprayed a polyurethane clear coat over the logo. This makes it easy to clean and also ensures the adhersion of the logo.

Using new OEM push retainers ( again EBay, 25 for $7) just attach it to the hood.

any suggestions on brand or kinds of paint? This is definitely something I want to try out while the car is being stored.

I noticed that a lot of the pics showed a C5 decal under the hood. I tried that also and I followed the instructions but the decal still flaked off. Any suggestions?

My hood liner was showing it's age. I decided to paint it with some Kyrlon Blk BBQ paint
($5)...it came out really nice. Was very surprised how nice the embossed logo looked with just a re-paint, I decided I didn't even want to do a decal on it. Broke a couple of the plugs but found some at NAPA.

Amour All Tire Foam works wonders! You don't even have to remove it from the hood.

This worked great for me also, I forget which forum member first posted about using Amor All tire foam on the hood liner but thank you! I tried it this past summer and it worked like a charm.

How well is the logo installation holding up?

I put a bed sheet as an over spray cover over the motor and fenders and sprayed it from the can that Armour All Tire Foam comes in. The black tire foam evaperates and leaves a clean black surface on the hoodliner. No scrubbing or mess. Then pull off the bed sheet and enjoy your work.
