Default My Super Experience

Guys after lurking for many many years I finally bought my 1990 corvette coupe back in 2008 and owned it for about a year and half before selling it to a fellow member. I now purchased my dream car which was a 2004 Machine Silver Z06 in September. Since purchasing I have had a permanent smile on my face and just recently with all of the sales on the A&A Superchargers I finally gave in.

I had reached out to A&A to ask my initial questions and they were answered professionally and really helped me understand what I didn't know (which was alot). I reached out to EnglandGreen as there was no shop close to Bowling Green, KY that had good experiences with the superchargers that I knew of. EnglandGreen was going to be a long haul until I heard that Mike Norris had moved up from Florida to the Indianapolis area and just happened to be running a special himself on the A&A install.

So I reached out to Mike @ Mike Norris Motorsports and we discussed some details on my setup (V2 si-trim). He understood I did not have intentions of tracking this car, just driving for fun around town and the usual spirited driving and maybe jumping on the 1/4 mile strip to see what it would do, and wanting a conservative tune for the most part nothing hardcore. He was very professional and answered every question I had and we discussed pricing and timing.

After further discussions I moved forward with the purchase and once we got the tracking # of the supercharger shipment from the guys at A&A (I was so excited I called Mike... Steve). I then only had the opportunity to have someone follow me up after work on Friday which Mike was gracious enough to come down to his shop at almost 11pm his time to meet me to bring my car inside and put her away. Very nice of him to come out that late due to my circumstances. Mike contacted me each day and gave me a full update and was great with communication as obviously I was very excited and anxious. My baseline numbers were 382rwhp/373trq. This was with Callaway Honker, Kooks 1-3/4 headers, off road (no catted) x-pipe and no tune.

After working on the car for 3 days and spending a day tuning the car Mike calls me with these numbers

I was drooling and amazed at how much horsepower the supercharger & tune did for the car. It was amazing to pickup over 200rwhp. As you can see that at the top end I am running out of fuel due to the way the fuel system is run in the 2004's. Mike explained this to me and made some changes to the dune to take this into consideration.

So wouldn't you know that on Friday when he calls that the car is ready it snowed almost 7 inches here in Bowling Green and had to wait until yesterday to get the car. Roads are still kind of bad so really haven't had the time to check it out yet but with a few little spurts it was insane the feeling.

To summarize this up, just wanted to say my experience with the guys at A&A and Mike Norris were just fabulous. Mike again yesterday met me at his shop on Sunday to let me get my car and go over everything. He was very understanding of my situation from being out of town and did a fabulous job. I would highly recommend him to anyone for his professionalism and quality of work.

Here are a few more pics of the setup... (sorry can't find my digital camera pics are from my iPhone)

I know the feeling as I went F/I last spring. Take it easy out there and learn the power. It can get away from you in a hurry. Congrats, have fun and be safe!

Well bro, I see it was certainly worth all the "reaching out" you did. Just busting your *****. Seriously congrats on all the new found power. Be careful on those cold/slick roads. Just wait until the temp comes up before you get on it so we don't have to read about any crashes. Might want to consider investing in a set of wider/stickier tires. You are going to need them. My 402 stroker makes 541 rwhp 505 rwtq N/A and 305 dr's barely can handle her midway thru second gear. 1st gear forget about it. SMOKE !! Lots of throttle management needed.

I got a question about the A&A kit you bought. Don't they come with larger injectors and either a fuel pump upgrade or KB BAP ?? If so why are you running out of fuel up top??

Maybe the kit has been revised (changed) since its so cheap with the sale................

Thanks for the kind words Rich. I was a pleasure to work on your Vette and let me know if you need anything else. Now go have fun but be safe.

As far as her running out of fuel and the system questions, it is a 2004 Z06 so the kit comes with the normal 60lb injectors and a KB BAP. The older C5 kits come with an LPE fuel pump assembly. If need be we can go to a C6 Z06 pump down the road if he wants to get more serious

So stock fuel pump, 60# injs, and BAP aren't enough to keep her from going thirsty ?

Thanks for the clarification Mike.

Running 8-10psi of boost. I have only hit boost like twice so far with the roads being so bad.

Right now I am on the stock clutch. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it will last a little bit longer. Car only has 20k miles on it so hopefully it will last a little bit longer.

Thanks for the clarification Mike.
The 60lber's are not the issue for sure and more a stock fuel pump limitation issue. I think what it boils down to is that each car is different, especially when dealing with the stock fuel pump. I would say 575-600 RWHP on a stock 2004 fuel pump with a BAP is close to or at the limit.

I have had a few go to 625 and just start dropping pressure and others start saying bye bye at 550 or so. This is why it is always good to be sure you have someone with quite a bit of knowledge do these installs instead of depending on the internet yapping to be sure all is as good as it can be.

Mike! I was wondering what happened to the guy from Bowling Green that called us.

I hope your move up there went well!

The Zs are freaks on FI! Good numbers!
