Hi Jim. Yes, they exist, but you may have to give up your airbag if you go with an aftermarket one....go to the Momousa site and click on the tab....beautiful stuff!
The only flat-bottom wheel I've seen for a C5 comes from a forum vendor, Apsis. To me the "D" shape is pretty hard to see; it's still nearly round but it retains the airbag and comes with those "thumb grips" on the sides too. I like it because it's still a "stock" steering wheel at the core level.
Here's a couple shots of my DSV wheel to tide you over.
NICE!!!
I totally forgot that DSV made these wheels. I think I'd be happy replacing my VE wheel with one of these (nothing against VE of course, but I love the D shape and the thumb grips on that wheel...)
are there any "lumps" on the outside of the rim where the different colors are stitched together, or are the seams nice and flush?
Anyone know what those wheels cost? I checked apsis and DSV and neither one had prices listed. Nice wheels but I'm guessing the prices are insane if they don't even list them.

DS Vette is just wrapping up a Super Bowl special. I purchased mine for $399 + $15 for shipping. Their normal price is $599. There is also a $200 core charge, which you will get back when you ship them your old wheel.

I remember Apsis' prices were quite high; he doesn't normally list them but I think at one point it came out that some of his wheels were in the $700 range. I remember seeing a price on a DSV wheel once as well, and it wasn't that high. I wanna guess it was $500-$600 range? I'm really going off of fuzzy memory here.
I may hit up DSV for one of their wheels... I'm sure I can sell my VE wheel here pretty easily when it comes down to it.
Below is my Apsis SW before installation. I prefer Apsis stitching.
On the DSV SW, I like the 4 thumb grips.
If I am not mistaken, the quality of the leather on the Apsis SW appears to be better.

The seams are nice and flush, I've never even noticed them while driving. The thumb grips makes a huge difference in comfort when driving, I love them.
Hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but where did you get that wheel? I'd love a smaller wheel. Mine is way too big, my knees constantly hit it.
