I want to black out my lights but there are a few things I'm worried about...first of all I have followed vehicles with blacked out lights and its hard to see their brake lights during the day which seems to be a big hazard... are their any members who have found a set that allow more light through? Also I hear that the covers hold in heat vausing the taillight to melt sometimes...input anyone?
U will be fine with the acrylic lenses..they really are a light smoke and just look darker when on the lense...they really are not dark....you could do the spray but too many issues with that method..streaking etc....Im going to get mine painted black which is the best method....more expensive though......i say stick with the basic acrylics!
NEVER heard of the melting...hmmm....even if you have the seals around them that shouldnt cause any heat problems...im thinkin if that happened to anyone, they have few other variables happening to them than just the lenses...
There is always the chance that someone will rear-end you whether you have blackouts or not. But if you do have blackouts, that may give their insurance company a way to deny your claim by calling it a contributory negligence case (if your state law allows it). Just something to think about.
some nice bright LED tails with tint would be great... it was an issue on 4th gen camaros with the plastic blackout and the taillight lense melting, happened to me
My taillights on my camaro melted too... I like led tails..I don't like the halos and I can't justify spending that much money for tail lights.... is there a brighter taillight bulb that can be purchased for our cars?
I did this this last summer with 'vht nightshade' and only took about 1 1/2 -2 hours to finish spraying them. I've never had any problems with them and i made them pretty dark so i would recommend using this product. And also i didnt have any problems with streaking, multiple light layers works best.
