don't want to hurt your feelings...but itz a turd they have buffed! Many issues just from the pics. I would keep looking and wait for the right vette to come along. I think you can get a much cleaner vette w lower miles for the same money or less....and maybe from an individual owner...not an auction car.
It's too much money for the miles. I've got a 99 with about a third the miles that has and if someone offered me $16,788 for it I'd jump on it. I do like the color combination though. I often wished my black car came with the gray interior. Keep looking and you'll find a better deal.
It looks pretty nice. A few things that I noticed:
Don't let those pictures fool you. Under those lights any car will look good! I am sure that car has its share of scratches and paint chips.
Riken tires?! Never heard of them, why would they put such "garbage" on those wheels?
Holy vinyl shine batman! You need sunglasses driving that thing. A lot of the dash shines hurt the dash and can cause premature cracking and fading.
Tail pipes look crooked. After market exhaust was probably removed.
Blue silicone intake piece attached to stock air bridge and cleaner. This car probably had an aftermarket air intake kit, but was removed for resale but they lost the factory bellow.
For $16k it's not bad, it was just a couple of years ago that you couldn't get a C5 under $20k.
If you are interested, we are getting in a 1998 Black convertible with 45k miles on it and will be selling it for high teens/low 20's. PM me if interested.
16.8 is already pushing my finances, and verts aren't really my thing, but thanks for the good feedback.
stay with c4 man, worst mistake i did bought my Z06 after C4, C5 is nice refined more power but its got its own problems, if u drag raced than literally stay away from C5 as they do wheelhop and break rear end, its a expensive fix, i never had a wheelhop on my C4 which has seen several low low 12 sec 1/4's prolly over 100 runs never a rear end problem or wheelhop.
Yeah you can run CCW drag pack to soften up but holy crap its 2 grand.
GL.
Give me that Z and throw in a few bucks and you can be driving my 95.

didn't hurt my feelings, I'm asking for opinions. You guys have found lots of stuff I missed (of course, it was obvious they sprayed high gloss treatment all over the interior).
Thanks for all the feedback guys, you saw a lot of stuff I missed. I knew there were lower mileage cars out there for that money, the color combo really caught my eye though, and seems pretty rare. I guess it isn't in as great a condition as I thought it was. I already offered them 14 and then 15, no dice. Looks like it isn't going to happen, oh well. I'd just have to put it in storage until spring anyway.
From the car report it looks to posibly be a repo that was auctioned off, at least that is what I would assume based on the dates and information the report shows... Or it could have been a trade in, but I'm betting on a repo in this economy...
With that said I would suspect they only paid in the 12-13K range at most for that car at auction, possibly even less...
I'm surprised that a 15K offer didn't swipe it, and I suspect that you might be getting a call back in a few days if it continues to sit, your choice at that point but I personally think the 14K offer was more in line with what you can find if you keep shopping...
I'd pass on that car just because of what they did to that interior....how could anyone look at that greaazzszsy plastic and say " Yeah, now it looks clean" UGH
