Has anyone had any experience with maxcare which is sold through carmax. Is the coverage very good and is it expensive. Somone offer to sell me a Z06 with this coverage.

Default What I got back, was more than I paid on the warranty!!

edit**not sure on the prices, but I remember them being reasonable. Please get this on your zo6. You can PM Tricep, he has/had maxcare on his z purchased at carmax.

I had it on a mustang gt from 98-01 or something like that. It was really good: 1 deductible per visit, not per item, pretty much everything was covered minus wear and tear items, the car could be serviced at any ASE cert. shop and the process was quite simple. I had a pwr steering pump leak fixed, a/c clutch replaced, motor mounts replaced, u-joints, pwr window motor and maybe a few other things that I can't remember. If they are structured the same, I would definitely recommend. Carmax would not put their name on something if it was crap. See Autonation..or don't see them I should say.

read thru all the covered items, better yet, read what's not covered.

more info: (very good stuff)
Cause and effect coverage: If a non-covered part fails as a result of a covered part, the non-covered part will still be repaired and replaced.
Named exclusion policy: Most service plans name the parts they cover, not the ones they don't. MaxCare extended service plans cover all parts of the vehicle except what is specifically excluded.
You get nationwide coverage at any authorized repair facility.
Low deductible per visit, not per repair.
Direct payment is made to the participating service center.
Affordable, flexible payment terms that can be included in your monthly payment.
Towing: MaxCare will cover up to $50 per occurrence.
Rental reimbursement: If your car is kept overnight, current MaxCare policies will reimburse you $25 a day for up to seven days. (See your policy for your rental reimbursement terms).
Comprehensive coverage for your engine, transmission and drive axle, steering, front suspension, brakes, electrical system, electronic system, air conditioning, cooling system, interior and assemblies and controls.

I bought a 2001 Z from Carmax with the extended warranty & the deductible will be $75.00 if you go o a Chevy dealer & $50.00 if you go Carmax for the service.

As a former employee, its an easy buy. I've had my C5 Z for 6 months... spent $1,800 on the 60K/60 mnth warranty, and it has already paid itself off. 3 oxygen sensors, new slave cylinder, 2 weeks worth of rental cars for free, free tow from 20 miles away. All this and I have 4.5 more years of the warranty! When you think about how much labor is on engine/tranny work the warranty costs is equivalent to one major repair alone. Good luck!
