Good job looking out for a fellow vette owner. That being said, I always park at the top of every parking lot and always look for stray shopping carts around where I park, I even have moved them to where they belong so they wont hit any body's car. I guess some people are just to lazy and don't care! Again good looking out!
Rule #27: Do not take Corvette to Walmart....ever.
Thank God my '95 Saturn beater car is hanging together. I'm milking it for all I can so I don't have to use the Vette as a DD (can't take the stress of that ). I wish someone would invent a force field that we could activate around the car when we lock it with our key fob. Unfortunately I'm not an electrician or physicist so can't get past the idea stage on that one.
for your act of kindness and may it come back to you and your Vette 10 fold.
Rule #27: Do not take Corvette to Walmart....ever.
Amen. or HEB, Kroger, Randalls, Target or similar places.
When I go in our other cars and there is a cart that may go down slope to my or other cars, I will turn it on its side. It is my way of preventing damage and sending a message to the store to clean up their act.
I have seen one slam into the rear bumper of a C5 at Lowes and trash it, but 20mph out here is "calm". On an average day in West Texas you will see dogs with a tailwind passing Corvettes down the street that can't stop!
When there is a tornado alert out here, I just means the wind is changing direction. I have had it peel off 3 roofs in 10 years!
When you live in Hell's backyard you do not even consider going near parking lots with shopping carts. Of course, being single I did not even know what all these racked shopping carts were for - I always thought they were parking for the homeless?
weighing several factors - I choose the far away parking spot. (I need the exercise, too!). Kudos to saving a stranger's car - hopefully I can do the same if given the opportunity and maybe someone would do it for me.
If more people sued the owners of the lots for damage to their cars, then perhaps they would do what Shoprite in the NY, NJ area have done. They have locks on their shopping carts where you go to the cart corral and put a quarter in the lock on the cart and it will unlock that particular cart. When you are finished with the cart, you take it back to the corral and lock it in to the cart in front of it and collect your quarter back....
It's amazing how many people don't want to lose a quarter and will take the cart back. No stray carts.
The problem is that most people believe the sign (not responsible for damage to YOUR car while parked here). Take them to court. I know most Wally worlds hire a cart kid to make sure the carts are put in their place. But usually that kid or person is nowhere to be found until there are almost no carts in the chute inside the store.......
I"ll never take my vette to a mall,I use the other(family) car. If I had to I would park a long distance away. Those mallettes are crazy with no reguard to other peoples property.
damn....when i saw the title of this thread....I thought for sure you meant....a riced out car with a huge wing spoiler (shopping cart) vs. Vette race or something....misleading title!!! lol
Sadly most poeple don't give a hoot about other people's cars, or their own for that matter. I park my family car far far away everywhere we go, and still you get that one person that parks right next to you and slams their door into yours...
About carts, I was at the local food store and saw this lady, who was parked at the top of the hill, carelessly push her cart down the hill (intentionally) after she was done with it. I could not get to it in time but it bounced off the bumpers of 3 cars befoe crashing to the end. She looked paniced that I saw here and she took off in her car. Where is a cop when you need one? Well, a minute or 2 later one showed up, and the owner of one of the damaged cars and I tried to flag him down, but he thought we re taunting him (not sure why), and he made a rude comment out his window and kept going...
Oh well..
Moral is, never take your vette to such parking lots unless you really can get a far far away decent spot.
well for the vette dd as myself i go to wally world and as much as possible i avvoid!!! but when i go its usually for something quick and just to get one or two things so i usually park next to cars... everytime i have gone im usually back and gone before the poeple next to me decidedd to leave. Im just really lucky i guess... but i also make it a point to hurry the heck up and get out of there!
I learned the hard way about shopping carts and door dings. On my lunch hour, I parked my dd in a mall parking lot (Fortunoff, not W-mart) about 125 yds from the front door. Unfortunately, it was down-hill and a runaway cart got me anyway. You gotta park uphill and far away.
