I've had my 2001 Corvette for a little over 2 years and have always been proud to have an unwrecked car. I always park it out at the end of parking lots, always have a front end mask on it for trips and take special care of the front spoiler and facia. This past weekend a guy in a van backed a distance across a parking lot and backed in to the right front of my car! The headlight was completely crushed, the front facia cracked and the right front fender was pushed back a little. In a manner of a few seconds he wiped out two years of care and sweat on this front end. His comment was "don't worry this is why we carry insurance -They can fix it good as new". My comment was "Why did you back so far across the parking lot"!!! It's almost as if he intentionally wanted to hit it or maybe he got a little pleasure out of banging up the fancy sports car!! My question to all of you is have you ever felt that there are some people out there that are jealous of anybody who has a Corvette and would actually get some pleasure out of damaging it in some way? I feel better now after getting this off my chest.
We feel you pain, brother. I know what it's like to go far out of your way to protect what you worked so hard to care for. I know what it's like to see something you loved and cherished so much be destroyed in a matter of seconds for no good reason. Unfortunately these type of things do happen. Try not to think about it. I know it's hard to put something like this out of your mind but it's all you really can do. Just go through the motions, find a great shop, and fix it like new. In time the pain will be less and you will forget all about it.
Some ignorant people will tell you, "get over it, its just a car." They don't understand. To us these are more than cars. Good luck friend and get her fixed up soon and post pics.

Sorry to see that this stuff happens. If in fact this was done on purpose, that person will most assuredly have something happen to him in some other form. What comes around goes around.

Sorry about your mishap, I am sure he didn't do it on purpose.
Things happen unfortunately. I am sure with the right body shop it will be as good as new.
Keep positive about it.
Mr.Bill
It's a shame what happened, and it's always worse when something you've worked hard to keep nice for a long time is damaged or lost due to something outside your control. It's frustrating at the least.
I don't know if he did it on purpose, but I can't understand why he'd do something so blatantly stupid as to back a VAN up a long distance. Vans don't have very good visibility no matter how good a driver you are. I've driven trucks and vans a lot. I'd have to say I'd never back a van up farther than 15 ft. Just wouldn't make sense to.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of people out there that are extremely jealous. And, yes, they'll try to hurt you to some how make themselves feel better. Some people think we're born with a silver spoon in our mouths and that we didn't work hard for what we have. They don't think, "Maybe he saved up real long and hard for that Corvette." Or, "Maybe he works 2 jobs and supports his family AND hobby." I for one worked my **** off to get my Z06. YEARS of hard work with no vacation and it all went to owning the American dream.
I've had people egg my car, put gum on it, lean against it leaving small angel-hair scratches that I had to buff out, and someone even poured soda on it. I just don't get why people these days don't have any class or respect. They get jealous and suddenly their jealousy is affecting you. I'm a pretty nice guy. I do a lot of favors for my friends, I donate to certain causes, I volunteer my time to teach and I'm generous. You'd imagine there'd be some sort of good Karma, but I'm not sure if Karma hasn't given up on man-kind. LOL
Some people are just ignorant to the fact that other people love their cars and care for them like prize collections. Look at this another way, after paying your insurance premiums for over 2 years on this car, you can finally get some payoff out of it.
Sorry to hear. I can't imagine he did it on purpose otherwise there would be a trail of busted Ferraris, Vettes and Lambos in his wake. Also, dealing with the insurance etc is a real pain in the a$$. No one would want to do that on purpose.
