Sorry for your pain. When I had a 98 some woman backed a considerable distance in her Suburban to hit my then pristine black coupe. We I made her insurance buy new parts for my car but I was never satisfied with the paint match. It just never was the same.
Sorry for your pain,,I understand!! Just have to realize that there a LOT of motorized morons out there!! Just watch the news reports for the number of reports of just plain stupid accidents out there every day. Intentional,,,I doubt it,,people don't want their rates to go up. Jy just have to recognize JUST how difficult it is for them to DRIVE WITH THEIR HEAD UP THEIR AZZ!!!

Sorry to hear this...definitely a nightmare none of us want to go through especially with an ignorant person who doesn't understand let alone can't even drive. I would've told him: "ya good thing you do carry it azzhole, enjoy your new premiums btw"
I had a woman scratch my driver's side window, (on my LT-1), with her diamond ring. I couldn't believe my eyes. Turns out, her husband was in the same class at a car show and she wanted him to win. She paid..
Had a guy try to pour some clear liquid into my fuel tank at a show, a friend stopped him and had the guard remove him from the show.

What?!!!! That's low class to the lowest. What car show was this, so I don't go to it? !!
I'm sorry for your misfortune but don't be too hard on the guy, everyone makes mistakes. Just be glad that no one was hurt. It's true, we have insurance for ACCIDENTS which is what it was and I'm sure you will be looking as good as before if not even better after it is all fixed. I was furious at a guy who T-boned my truck a long time ago but in the end I know he didn't do it intentionally. Make sure you take the car to a shop that you trust, not one the insurance recomends. I made that mistake once and it won't happen again.
At least no one was hurt, well, no Corvette drivers. I was in an accident in my friends car and he was driving. He has a little Nissan 240 and some guy in a large SUV rear ended us doing about 25-30 while we were at a stop light. Somehow my friend's car didnt do to bad. Paint was already peeling so over all nothing but paint scratches on an already peeling bumper appeared to be wrong. My friend and I had neck pains. So we tell him and the guy is telling us the car has no damage and that there is nothing wrong. He insisted that nothing could be wrong. I had to tell him a bumper was made of plastic and bounced back but our necks are not. We had called the cops already and they dont come out in this town unless someone is dying. So we had to bug him real good to get his insurance info and then off to the hospital we went.
I just can't believe people's total disregard to other people's hard work and even health. I know what you mean on yours. You feel you put all this time and effort working on keeping the car clean and in great shape and now it was all for nothing. But at least in the past two years you had a great looking car. These feelings are what makes you a Corvette kind of person.
Best of luck dealing with you car and insurance and all that.
I don't know if it means that unknown evil forces are at work, but I have seen and heard of numerous happenstances where a really nice car gets damaged while surrounded by dozens of mom-mobiles that go untouched. One stands out in my mind--a friend had parked his Lamborghini Countach in a corner of a large DMV parking lot. He had to take it there in order to convince the authorities there really was such a car, as they had no information on it. As he was exiting the building, he heard a "bang" and a screeching, scraping noise. A wheel had come off a trailer being towed, at a good clip, on the nearby highway; he saw the wheel roll into the ditch at the side of the road, bound out and over a line of cars in the parking lot, deflect off a curbing and slam directly into the side of his canary-yellow Lambo. It did a tremendous amount of damage.
Sorry for your experience, but as the other forum members said, at the right shop it can get fixed better than before.
Thanks to all of you for your replies. It really does make me feel better knowing there are people who can relate to how I feel. I got my first estimate on getting it fixed and it was $4400.00 !! GM really likes the complete headlight assembly w/motor - it was almost $1100.00 and that didn't include the bezel or painted door on it. Someone mentioned talking to the insurance company about "diminished value". Have any of you ever gotten compensation for your car because it is now a wrecked vehicle and it's value is now less?
