Default Stripe down driver door C5

Long time lurker, but got a silly question I can not find the answer.

That horizontal molding that goes down the door panel on the C5, is that just from early C5? My 01 does not have it.

Thanks

BSM - Body Side Molding - was an option.

The BODY SIDE MOLDING was an extra cost option from 1997 through 2004 on all C5's. If you don't have one on your car, then the original owner did not pay for it as an option. You can add it yourself. There are plenty of people that take them off and sell them pretty cheap here on the Forum. Keep a look out for your color in the Parts For Sale section.
Some people like 'em, some people don't. It's a matter of opinion.
Good Luck!

Mine does not have it and I don't want it. I love the smooth look of the C5 which is totally broken up with the BSM on there.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

It was an option on all C5s

Of all the polls taken here 50% like it and 50% dont. But it certainly brings out strong views from each camp

I have them on my 02 and love them.

They give me that little extra down force that keeps my car firmly planted on the pavement. I'd be afraid to go very fast without them

Oh THAT'S what they're for! I thought my car (which does not have them) had a lesser coefficient of drag and less weight and therefore was faster - I never considered the downforce!

Seriously - it's a religious argument - I like the smooth look

I have them on my '02 Z. It occured to me that they will only protect your doors from another Vette or a vehicle of similar height. No protection against door dings from taller vehicles. on the BSMs.

My BSM's do a good job protecting my doors from my 3 yr old's tricycle.

That sound about right... 50% of the people are wrong as usual!

Just like I used to think that women were half crazy... turns out I was only half correct!
