i run these, they sound amazing and are really not as loud as you would think, about the same volume as the stingers, but they are much lighter as there is nothing to them. but they do turns heads!

Cool cool, do you notice a back pressure or loss of power?
every person will have their own taste when it comes to sound. i personally like a vette to sound pissed off and mean, many other people like exotic sounds etc. its part of what makes modding your car cool. i agree with the flash when he says go on youtube and listen to some clips. BUT hearing it in person is the only way to know what it really will sound like on your vette.
to hear what the straight pipes sound like on your car just disconnect the 4 bolts for your titanium mufflers, let em hand and crank it up.
Straight exhaust sounds like crap, that you have to listen to ALL the time. Your neighbours/cops will love you! Get electric cut-outs, at least you can turn the noise down...sometime.
This clip sounds like an old clapped out truck, no POWER sound, just noise...but it's your car.
I have had borla straight pipes on my car for over 2 years now and have never gotten pulled over for them being too loud. I didn't like the way they sounded at first with all the backfiring and sound so i got the h-pipe cut out and an x-pipe put in. It really changed the way it sounds now it doesn't backfire and its sound amazing! If your gonna do it get the x-pipe too!!!!
I just put these on my car tonight. They are definitely loud and a bit insane at WOT... People actually get scared inside and outside of the car upon WOT. My car is completely stock and I picked up this system like new at a discount price. Sound at idle is nice and stout but not overly aggressive. On city driving the tone is deep and throaty but you can literally shift out the exhaust in higher gears so you can cruise like its stock.
My car has this exhaust and a short shifter and that is it as far as mods go. I chose this system because it is affordable and I have been getting bored of the stock sound of the car. This system surely added some much needed excitement to my car that I will enjoy until I either put the sts turbo kit on or go for a N/A setup in which case I will Have my Ti's bypassed with the Lg pro Longtube setup.
Installation is really easy though it seems to be one of the only systems the Borla website does not have instructions for.
Also the tailpipes are very hard to align perfectly. I am a bit picky and the left tailpipe hangs a tad bit lower than the right one(I spent a significant amount of time trying to fix this with minimal success). Both pipes also hang a bit lower than stock and have less of that "factory Tucked Pipe Look" that the Ti's sport so well. I actually Noticed that about quite a few of the Borla systems.
As the system sits on my car it is Very sturdy and the pipes do not shake or rattle. It is a quality design and does not feel cheap at all. My only question for Borla is why hang lower? Heat maybe? Only a few of the system I have seen that they make for the C-5 Corvette Have that Flush look like the factory tips. All the rest hang a bit lower.
I have a borla system, that I moded with different tips. It's not the race (no mufflers) style, but to be honest it has a drone noise at highway speeds that gets uncomfortable after about 30min. (and if you live in the Tahoe area, the road noise is bad enough). But every now an then I do put them on, then take them off. I have a 2001 that I did change to a 2002+ h pipe and by losing the pup cats and stock Ti's it has a nice sound.
My 2003 Z-06 came to us with Borla Stinger Exhaust System, w/four 4" round tips. I think this is LOUD but Hubby loves it.
Our '73 Corvette has Hooker Super Competetion Headers w/ Zep Racing Mufflers. We keep both Vettes in our garage and believe me when I say when both Vettes are running in the garage at the same time the sound is so loud I expect windows to start popping out of the house windows.
