Default Hide Away License Plate Frames ?

Does anyone have any experience with those Hide-Away Front License Plate frames.

There are the manual type and the Electric remote type.

What are your experiences with them ?

Do they scrape on driveways ?

Are they visible when they are tucked away ?

Do they Jam ?

Are they un-sightly ?

Any Experiences with these please share.

If you have one - would you recommend one ?

Don't have one, but I don't think they help the problem at all (trying to be polite).
I prefer either painting the U shaped molding to match the car or painting the clear bubble piece.

I have one of the electric ones and love it. Have never had a problem with scraping. Have had it to 160 and is still on the car. You can see it a little when stowed. super easy to install, just 2 wires to connect.

I've tried all the options on front plate as I have no choice but to run one here in UK. The color coded surround looks OK although its still a front plate. The retractable looks better when its stowed but worse than a fixed plate when its out. At least for a show you can tuck it away.

Its impossible to get the plate to retract enough to be invisible. You can still see it even when its tucked away. Take a look at the pics

I got the manual plate without realizing there was an electrical option. I think I'd have gone for a switch if I'd known.

I have the manual-style retractable plate mount. I agree that it's never truly invisible when retracted, but few people have noticed it when retracted.

I don't think it looks any worse than the normal plate mounting location when it's opened up.

In fact, I think it looks better than the normal mounting location, but that might be because I have the front screen mod done to the normal plate mounting location.

FWIW........

Mine is hidden, and push the button and you'll see it....in the garage.

I'd keep mine down and hidden most of the time, too. Not really a fan of how it looks when it's up and showing....looks really tacked on, IMHO.

How about someone coming up with a "James Bond" style license plate holder? Use the exsiting Corvette filler panel but make it so it rotates 180 degrees to display a license plate on the other side.

I know some of the engineers out there love a challenge.
