Default Hoooooooooooonk....

Or rather NOT!!!

When I try to honk the horn in my c5, the relay is clicking, but the horn does not sound.

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

My last issue with the horn was that it was on continuous blow! That was over a year ago, and a mechanic messed with the relay somehow (not sure what he did) and it's worked fine, without blowing nonstop, up til now.

The fact that the relay is clicking does not necessarily mean its working. Pull a similar relay next to it and plug it in and see if that makes a difference. I had the same problem and a new relay fixed it.

This should fix it. The membrane is often the problem

Not for the faint hearted though.

If that's what it is...that's simply not happening!!!

I was referred to that thread for the continuous blow, too! That is SERIOUS work!!!

As for the what the guy did to the relay, sgoodhew, I do not know! But I know it's worked fine for over a year. I am going to run up to the same place one day this week to see if he knows what to do now! I'll let you know what I find out from him about the relay.

Last C5....he did tell me when he messed with it that I might still have to replace it later. Maybe that is the issue now, as you suggest it might be.

Yea, I don't think I'd want to tackle that either. Time to call in the pros if it turns out to be that.

Before going to any expense or pain you might try this after you verify the relay is good. My passenger side horn wouldn't work because the wire connector at the horn was corroded. I polished the male and female connectors with fine emory cloth, touched a tiny bit of dielectric grease on it and replugged. That was 2 yrs or so ago. Still working.

Bad membrane. Go to Eklers they sell them for $60 or so.
