I like the optima batteries because they are sealed and won't leak all over your wiring and pcm.
If you don't drive the car all of the time you might also look into a battery charger.
I had a Optima Red Top that I bought at Sears & it died within a yr. Replaced free of charge with a new one & it's still going strong for over 4 yrs now, go figure. I am using a C-Tek 3300 battery tender now that I'm living in snow country...My factory orginal battery leaked (over tight connections). I have a battery mat placed under the battery just in case cheap insurance...
The truth about batteries is that the majority of car batteries are created by 3 manufacturers - Delphi, Exide and Johnson Controls Industries.
Delphi makes some EverStart models sold in Walmart and ACDelco.
Johnson Control Industries makes Duralast seen in Autozone stores, Diehard - sold in Sears, Kirkland - the Costco brand, Motorcraft - which Ford sells, some of the EverStarts, and Interstate.
Exide makes Exide batteries, Champion and Napa batteries.
I've had excellant luck with the EverStart batteries sold @ WallyWorldMart. I believe the last one I bought for my 69 Camaro has a 3 year free replacement and prorated for 6 years.
If you already have a WallyWorldMart battery, take it back and have them replace it. These batteries were most recently very highly rated in Consumer Reports.
1st choice: AC Delco (just to keep things looking stock)
2nd choice: Interstate (My experience with these is excellent longevity)
Last choice: (Not 3rd choice, but last. Optima Red Top. Read the fine print as it relates to its warranty)
