Do 2002 z06s have PKE systems? If so how do you set it up to lock and unlock with the key fob in your pocket? I looked every where and could only find info for C4s and C6s.
Only the early C5's had it. My '98 had it and I hated it, locking and unlocking feature worked erratically so myself and most people would switch it off on the key fob. I guess there was so many complaints GM discontinued it early on. One day at home the horn in my car kept beeping. I didn't realize that the fob was in my pocket and every time I walked near the garage I was setting the alarm off and on when I was activating the keyless entry. It sorta worked when it felt like it.

I found it extremely annoying for the reasons mentioned above, so I always left it off on my 99 FRC.
In my house the place where I hang my car keys is about 20 ft from where the Vette is parked. When I first took delivery of my 97 the damn thing sat out in the garage honking the horn as it locked and then unlocked the car. The system worked fine if you just got out of the car and walked away from it but if you stayed within 50 ft it could drive you crazy. Luckily, the FOB had a switch that turned off the passive mode.
I love it on my C4, wish the Z had it. Sure it can be a pain if you have the keys on you and you are working around car, so just put them down or away, or turn it off. When the battery gets low it doesn't work well, but besides that it is great, can have your hands full and don't have to wrestle to find keys (especially when raining), never forget to lock doors, just walk away.

One of the problems with the C5 system was that I didn't trust it to lock the doors when I walked away. Since it seemed to have a mind of its own, it might not lock the doors every time, but at that point you'd be too far away to know. Possibly the C4 system was different. Fortunately there was a switch on the remote to turn it off and use the remote conventionally.
