The best thing to do is ditch the changer and use an ipod or flash drive. You can have hours and hours of skipless music!

We have an 03 and I don't remember ever having a skip. I've actually been surprized how well the unit works. Wonder if something could be wrong with yours?

As great as the 12-disc CD player must have been 10ish years ago, I'm sure most are doing the ipod thing these days. I'm not one of them - yet. I use mine occasionally. Even with the Z51 suspension on my '99 coupe, have never had any skip or delay issues.

Go Ipod
thousands of songs with you at all times

simple 5 minute install
unhook your changer
use the Ipod kit including the PXDP/PXHGM2 package to plug into the changer harness
run the cable to desired location in the front of the car
plug in ipod
you have tunes

First I would check to see if the unit is secure to the rear trunk studs. There are 4 studs and 2 brackets. Grab the unit and try to move it.

If it is snug, then there is a problem internally.

I never had that problem with mine. Did away with the cd player anyway. Went with this.

"GM10-AUX". $60 or so. Unplugged the 12 disc cd changer in the trunk. Plugged this in, and got an RCA audio plug with the headphone jack at one end. All set to play any mp3 player. I got mine on that big auction site.

The factory 12 disc changer in my 2002 works perfectly. It's probably only skipped a dozen times in the 7000 miles I've driven the car.

If mine skipped frequently, I'd start by removing it from the car and taking it apart. It should have some sort of suspension system in it. Inspect that system and make sure it is insulating the player from shock as it should.

the 12 disk changer has ZERO read-ahead buffer.

Here's an alternative:

I have a 99 Z51...no skips yet. Have you cleaned your changer? If not, try that and it may resolve the issue.

if ou have a changer yes
if not
more than likely no

if wanting to use for an ipod this will not charge
if want to use for a Zune or other 3.5 v option you will need the
pxdx/pxhgm2 option i have for the rear of the car
pxdx/pxgm4 option for the head unit
both of these will not charge zune or mp3 players

if you have an ipod or iphone you will need
pxdp/pxhgm2 for back of car
pxdp/pxhgm4 for from
both these options will charge ipods and iphones newest 5v systems.

all options are listed here on website
http://www.doubledmods.com/IPOD-IPHO...SORIES_c58.htm

pm me if any more questions.

the pxdx piece WILL worl with a Zune as I just got feedback from someone who has purchased one.
79.99 for pxdx combo
89.99 for pxdp combo

could be that the lense is dirty (it's not really mounted in the worst place, but after time is could exposed to a bit of dirt and dust). i've never had to clean mine, but i do know there are ways to do it. just a guess on my part however.
