Default Ordered me some MGW

Here's what I got:

http://www.mgwltd.com/corvette_short..._shifter.shtml

with this ****:

http://www.mgwltd.com/corvette_race_knob.shtml

I think it's gonna go pretty well with my RPM IV that should be in next week..

Any comments on this shifter? I've read nothing but good things about MGW and the elimination of the plastic cup really appealed to me. C'mon, GM, a plastic up is between the shifter and transmission?

The MGW shifter is a great upgrade, but I got the 15% reduction street version and not the 25-30% version. I originally had the race **** that you ordered but after a few months changed it to a C6 factory **** because it felt much better to me and was easier to shift. The race **** is great for sequential shifters.

The race **** was $50. Honestly, I just thought it was sexy as hell and wanted it.

I also like the C6 ****, though. I guess I can always switch back and forth if I feel so inclined.

Was installation pretty much remove and replace?

I really like my MGW shifter. It may seem stiff to shift the first 50 miles of city driving or so but will loosen up so don't be alarmed.

Have the same parts on my Z that you will be installing. MGW includes an installation CD with the shifter. Pretty straight forward. I have had the MGW for about a year and would not trade it for anything else. I prefer the race **** instead of the round ball.

Do you HAVE to get a shifter bracket? When I ordered mine for my cobra a year or so ago, it was just the shifter, none of this bracket stuff. Are the brackets just so you can have a C6 style **** on there without modifying the whole shifter?

That's a good question.

It appears that the C6 bracket is shorter than the C5 bracket. I guess I will try out the C5 bracket first and see if I like it. If I feel that I feel it sits too high, I will try the C6 bracket.

Wait, so you purchased the shifter for 250 and that was it or did you have to add a bracket for 25 dollars?

He said that I do not have to add the bracket but some people do.

I'm going to call tomorrow and check on that!

When I ordered my MGW, I was given a choice if I wanted the C5 or C6 shifter bracket. The C5 bracket is straight up and down and has screw-on threads, just like the one you ordered and is required for the race ****. When I changed to the C6 ****, I had to get the MGW C6 bracket (for around $25) that angles back slightly and is designed so that the C6 **** can bolt to it just like the stock setup. By the way, my MGW race **** rattled under strong acceleration but the C6 **** is quiet.

I have the offset MGW shifter which allows you to move the top piece around 360 degrees and position it where you want. I have long legs and the stock shifter was close to my knee in 1st gear so I rotated the top piece to about 4:00 to give my leg a little more room. I'm using a Moma **** on it right now, the shifter is threaded for C5..

So when you purchase the shifter, it comes with either/or C5 or C6 shifter bracket? That's what it looks like on their site when you are ordering. I'm just confused haha. I dont want to spend 250 dollars on a shifter and then find out I need to spend another 25 and wait longer for that to be shipped...I love MGW's shifter, or at least I did on my Cobra. Very positive gear engagement feeling.

it all depends on what type of **** you want to run.

if you keep the stock c5 one or the MGW race **** stick with the c5 handle that is threaded.

I too had a MGW in my Mustang and loved it as much as the Corvette one

I took a look at the website again.

You simply buy the MGW Corvette C5/C6 shifter and then pick the shift ****/bracket application which is either Stock C6 **** or Threaded. That's it. $250.00

Below there is an option: "Extra Handle", $25

They don't make a straight shifter anymore, they are all with the offset/bracket.

I spoke to MGW a minute ago and she said that when you also order their ****, it comes with the bracket for their ****.

I'm all set.

Might even install this before I do my RPM IV.
