I've held off for years to let the 'wife' drive my C5. Okay, I let into the pressures and jokes about letting her drive it so gave her the keys today (sunny and dry San Diego day) AND....she comes back with a scratch!! Seems she ran into a girl friend out walking her %##@ dog and the ^@W$@ dog jumped on the door and with its claws left a scratch. STUPID ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps thinking through the fact that you married your wife and bought the car would help you understand what's REALLY important in life. just sayin,,,,,,,,,,,

Life's too short to be a dick and hold out on the wife enjoying the car.
Scratches can be fixed, but feelings aren't fixed as easily.
Did you ask her if she had fun? I'm sure she stressed about coming home at all. And I know I love my wife too much to want her stressing over something she did by accident. Granted she should respect it and be careful, but life happens.
It is a shame it happened, never know what goes thur a dogs mind, had a 68 chevelle ss that i just picked up from the body shop, complete paint job, went to my parents to show it off,and the family dog jumped on the hood!!!WTF,i can laugh about it now,but at the time i was pretty upset,as you are ,maybe someday you and your wife can laugh about this.
While extremely frustrating, it wasn't her fault ....or her girlfriend's ....or for that matter the dog either. The dog was just glad to see your GF and wanted to get closer.....ah...man's...er woman's best friend.
Be the man and rub out the scratch the best you can. Take a couple of deep breaths......think peace amongst all god's creatures....then shoot the legs off that dog when nobody is looking.
Happenend to me too (friend's dog.... and my cat just had to reach up and see what was going on in the engine compartment Funniest thing ever when I looked up and saw him checking out what I was doing in the engine bay. When I yelled "nooooooooo" he got down. But he gouged my fender stripe and I think my fender in the process (haven't taken the stripe off yet).
Anyway, these types of scratches should buff out easily with a PC. That's the good thing!
