Default titanium exhaust ?

Has anyone put a zo6 exhaust on there stock c5? If so what are your thoughts on this? Any performance upgrade? I am looking to make a change, just not sure what yet. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes many have.
Sounds better
Less weight
Increases exhaust flow/HP
In fact many with headers who do not like the decibles of the aftermarket systems, opt to go headers with Ti's

Realize you'll need to have the car on a lift to put these in - otherwise, you'll need to have the bottom of the rear bumper 32"-36" off the ground which can be dangerous if using a jack and stands. I have run the Ti's on a couple of my C5's in the past and it's a great exhaust but somewhat quiet for my taste.

I put TI"s on my 04 at first. They're lighter and look better but they did little of improve the sound. I replaced them with Corsa Pace Car system and am much happier with them. Do a search on this very basic mod and you can read 100's of post on the subject.

Probably more coupes and convertibles with Z06 Ti's than Z06's with Ti's. It's the first thing to go..

Dollar for Dollar the TI is a great mod, One other thing you can do to make it more aggressive is to do the TI mod to them, That is where a small piece if TI pipe is welded between the input and out put of the muffler, That will give you a nice mellow sound when just putting around and then when you go WOT the bypass will kick in and sound great.

The Ti's will not sound much different at idle (I have a '04 convert) and normal cruising speeds but put the pedal to the floor and they'll sound great to bystanders but nothing like other after market systems.

Ti's will flow more IF you also modify your air intake. To take advantage of the Ti's ability to flow more you must modify your intake. Note, the Z06 air cleaner cover opening is quite a bit larger than a stock C5's cover opening.

They are weight savers but mostly becomes important if you are going to do some serious racing. You could go on a diet and lose the same amount of weight that'll would be lost by installing Ti's.

The look of the tips is subjective. Personally, I like the the large round look over the oval look. The stock oval tips are also on the Cadillac DTS.

Bottom line for me: I love their look. I like that they didn't change the ambient sound level at normal driving speeds. I changed my intake so they did improve my performance. Lastly, I like the pshcological effect of knowing I'm reduced the overall weight of my vette and they are titanium.

Louder than stock- yes
Flow better- Yes
Lighter- yes

Go for it!!!! If you buy used you can get your money back out of them very easily if you decide you want more. And with a lift it is not hard to swap out

My car came with a set of Borla Quad Round Cat Back Stingers. At first I did not mind the sound. It did not take more than a week before I could not take the drone of them.

My car also came with a K&N FIPK/Cold Air Intake and I have an A4.

I was extremely fortunate as there was another member on here who happened to be looking for the Borla system I had and who wanted to get rid of his Z06 Ti system. He also had access to a lift and was able to do an even swap.

I think the car got a lot snappier and even quicker with the Ti system. No more drone at all and the system is very light, much lighter than the Borla System and waayyy lighter than the stock exhaust. It also sounds great when under any sort of acceleration.

As already mentioned, the big advantage to the Ti mufflers is the weight savings. They will sound a bit better but as far as a performance increase, don't expect much.

I installed a set of Ti's on my '04 vert. I like the look much better than the original "Caddy" oval tips. The Ti's also have a slight performance gain over the stock mufflers. BTW, I also changed my air filter setup to a dual cone. The stock LS1 seems to be more alive with these 2 simple mods.

No performance change, not much of a sound change, but they do look better than the stock tips.
I did mine in the driveway with a floor jack and some 2X4 boards. It took less than an hour from start to finish.
