whistling noise left side engine comp
As the title says I have a whistling noise in the left side of the engine compartment. I thought it was coming from the Alternator so changed that and the noise went away. Now I have a higher pitched whistling noise coming from the same side. It gets worst with RPM. Is it the power steering pump bearing going out? Any ideas let me know. Thanks. Laurence

If you can, try spraying a little lubricant on the PS pulley and see if the sound goes away. With 90K there may be some wear that is causing the shaft to have some play on the housing. The lubricant is NOT a fix but a way to determine the root cause. I had something similar on my Silverado truck, it was the idler pulley, cheap fix.
