Default training tps

Do tps need to be retrained if they go back in the same wheel after a battery replacement? Can they be retrained before installing in the wheels? If so how? Thanks for any and all help.

1 turn ignition on
2 press "reset" button to clear any IPC display warning messages
3 press and release the "options" button on the Dic to scroll through
the display options until the IPC is blank
4 press and hold the DIC "reset" button for three seconds
5 press the "options button again until TIRE TRAINING message appears
6 press "reset" button until LEARN L FRONT TIRE appears in order to
bein programing
7 install the J41760 TPM SYSTEM PROGRAMING TOOL ( a large magnet will work, thats what i used) over the valve stem,
8 the horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programed
(if it takes more than 15 secs. pull magnet back and try again, it will give you 3 tries, then you must start over.)
9 when the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order, as directed by the IPC message: LEARN R FRONT TIRE, LEARN R REAR TIRE, LEARN L REAR TIRE.

Programing can be canceled by turning ignition off, waiting 2 min. with no sensors being learned, finishing all 4 wheels orthrough the Dic; If the programing is canceled with less than 4 sensors learned, it will only accept the codes programed up to that point.

Hope this helps. Best accessory i ever bought was a set of service manuals. Well worth the money

Default TPMS woes

Here's my problem. I have a '98 coupe. The FL, FR, and RL sensors have been working fine. The RR sensor just showed "XXX". I assumed the sensor was bad and replaced it with a Schrader replacement correct for the model year. Once installed the Schrader sensor would not activate.
I placed the monitoring system in learning mode as you described above. Put a large magnet over the FL valve stem but no honk. In fact the only sensor that gave me a honk was the new Schrader. Nada from the others. Took it to a dealer who tried with the actual TPMS tool - no dice. Now, since trying to reset the sensors, the only sensor working is the FL (the first in the reset series that did not honk). The other two sensors that had been working have now quit, and the fresh sensor does not work either.
What gives? Will I have to replace all of the other sensors now.
