Actually, it started out with a baseline of 10k miles but was upped to 15k miles, I think for the 2001 model.
6K miles for me between oil and filter changes, but I also change the filter every 3k miles (at mid-oil change), just to get a fresh filter on for the 2nd 3k miles before the next oil change.
Pretty sure it was 6k - 10k in the C5 timeframe. I know at least on my '02, if I drive "normally" it goes down 1% per 60 miles like clockwork.
I know there's someone here on the forum that actually worked on GM's oil monitor system. Maybe he'll chime in.
I watched the DIC value when I was using the car in Vegas as a daily driver. I actually changed it earlier but the DIC was counting down at about 10% per thousand miles. I think I changed it at about 20% on that occasion. I hit one year every time now.
I change mine once a year, whether it needs it or not. Last year I put 762 miles on the odometer. I always change it just before I put it into storage.
I change the oil once a year. The lowest the Oil Monitor has ever gotten is about 40. Generally put on about 10K miles a year so guess you can say I am changing it at 10,000 miles. Manual says to change it when the Oil Monitor says to or once a years, whichever occures first.
I'm guessing,,,about the 3 to 5K range. I go by the OLM,,usually below 10%,,actually ran it to 0% once. Average 2 to 3 changes per year which averages around 10,000 miles a year. I do a fair amount of short trip city/suburban driving that drives the OLM down a little quicker. When we take her to Atlanta,,we get more miles on the change!! A trip to the strip will cost a % or two
There's probably nothing wrong with a 10k oil change, especially on a car that is street driven only.
NOT that I'd let it go that long, but I am sure I change mine way too frequently. I change it twice a year and only put about 4 to 5k per year on the car.
I do take take my car to the track (road course) quite a bit each year.
