Nice job!

I'd like to ask more about the insulation kit.. I've read a few people say they're not totally sure that it made the interior any more quiet than it was stock or if it was a "placebo" effect.. In your case, does it do alot to quiet down road noise alone, or does it also help with exhaust and wind noise as well?

Also, how long did it take your stuff to be delivered from Maddvette? I've heard some folks waited a while :o

Nice job, the OEM systems in the cars don't sound good at all, you don't know the difference until you go aftermarket.

I have an Alpine HU, Focal components a McIntoch M1000M 1K watt 6ch amp and a JL w3 10" in a stealth box. All the interior was matted like yours as well. Huge difference in sound and how quiet the car is rolling down the road with the matting.

It's a lightweight kit so, it's not going to be like using dynamat or one of the other serious sound deadener products. For sure, it is considerably quieter than it was. My wife and friend agree. The reduction is mainly road noise. Around town it is quiet. My car used to be deafeningly loud on many sections of the highway. It's still not what I would say is quiet there, but it's a lot better than it was. Madvette took well over a month to deliver the kit, along with a bunch of other things I ordered.

Are these aftermarket systems still speed sensitive?

No, at least mine isn't. Probably need a hook into the PCM for that.

However, the new system sounds so much better, and has so much more power than the stock system, that you'll never notice!

The other thing is that the insulation kit reduces the need to increase the volume as much. Think about this: In a stock Vette the only thing between you and the floorboard is the carpet. There are a few pieces of insulation here and there, but the insulation coverage is really sparse. This is good for race car quality weight savings, but terrible for blocking road noise. People have commented that this kit isn't as good at sound deadening as some other products, and that's true. It's a trade off to have a light weight (3.5 lbs. vs. 70 lbs or more) kit. But just about anything you put between that carpet and the floor board is going to help. I think another thing that's probably important is to install it correctly, in terms of taping all the seams up nice and tight. The idea is to trap sound between the insulation and the floorboard as much as possible. The more openings and gaps you have, the more sound that escapes into the cabin.

Z06, I agree about the weight. That 5 or 6 lbs added to have a kick *** sound system isn't going to make one bit of difference when I want to get on it.
