Default Help with P1416 Code

After a prolonged period of idling with the heater/defroster on full blast I got a P1416 (Air System Bank 2)code.

After resetting the climate control system to auto the system continued to blow hot air and wouldn't go into the cool mode; just hot and recirculating as it wouldn't stay in the mode that brings air in from outside.

Seems I remember a post here some time ago about a valve sticking in the air tube system and there was a simple fix for it using carb cleaner and/or WD40.

Once I cleared the code the climate control system started working normally and so far no code.

Has anyone else had this and ideas for the P1416 code.
Thanks,

thats the pcv valve if i remember correctly that can stick, you just use a mix of wd40 and carb cleaner to try to free it. and use an air compressor to move the fluids to the valve

An AIR pump is used on this vehicle to lower tail pipe emissions on start-up. The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies a ground to the AIR pump relay, which energizes the AIR pump.

The PCM monitors the heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor voltages in order to diagnose the AIR system.

During the AIR test the PCM activates the AIR pump during closed loop operation. When the AIR is activated, the PCM monitors the HO2S voltages and the short-term fuel trim values for both banks of the engine. If the AIR system is operating properly, the HO2S voltages should go low, and the short term fuel trim should go high.

If the PCM determines that the HO2S voltages for both banks did not respond as expected during the tests, DTC P0410 sets. If only 1 sensor responded, the PCM sets either a DTC P1415 for bank 1 or P1416 for bank 2 in order to indicate on which bank the AIR system is inoperative.

It is not the PCV valve; it is a smog pump check valve that is located behind the intake manifold. In most cases, the intake manifold is removed to gain access.

WD-40 is a temporary fix at best. Remember that petroleum-based liquids can damage the catalytic converters.

The dealership charges approx. $450 to replace the valve and intake manifold gaskets. Often, they will recommend replacing the knock sensors as well, since they are located in the same area.

good point of reference i paid dealer to have air inlet valve replaced then i paid to have knock sensors replaced and i still have check engine light problems with the p1415 code.
