I actually thought the same about most C4s, the one I DIDN'T want- but when I saw it in person, the price, mileage was right so it became my first 2 years ago. They grow on you, like a fungus.

Hey guys.. Maybe some don't like the C4, But it is still a Vette, I have nothing against C4s at all, I am embarrassed at some of your replies and are making the C5 guys look bad.

I saw a Polo ZR-1 yesterday (1990, I think) and the thing looked and sounded sweet. I had to stare as it drove off.
Yeah I like my C5 much more than my old C4, and I think I can defend objectively why it is a "better" car, but looking down on any Vette is silly. Lot's of reasons to like a C4. It really is a great car; the newest of them are now 14 years old and can still perform as well or better than most modern sports cars. Seriously, the C4 probably saved the Corvette -- C3's were extremely dated and way behind the competition by 1982. But you look at a well-kept C3 today and it is a real attention-getter.

My first ride was in a 91 white vert with red leather. Fell in love.... I was always going to get a c4 until I actually started looking and just love the body style of the 5 better. Will never say anything negative about a 4 though. The 6's, well, thats a different story. I just dont like them. I cant get passed the head lights. If they popped up, I think I would actually like them, but for some reason, that small detail turns me off. I need to find something about them that I like so much more than the 5 so that in a couple years, I can buy one!!! LOL!! But, I would never act negative towards someone with a 4 or 6.

My old man has an 86 vert, 88 coupe, and 96 vert. I respect the performance and design for the era.
They are however, VERY uncomfortable to get in and out of, and ride in for any length of time.

I think more Corvette Proud... Every new model and new years show improvements and advancements that the earlier years start to show their age. You can say that with just the invention of the vehicle, The Model T to the 2010 C6 ZR1. Ignorant people down play the earlier models, because they are on a power trip. Smart folks say, "I believe the newer years have improved on the performances over last years models and look forward to seeing the next generation". Snobs, no Proud, Yea..... enjoy the ride.

Age and appreciation
A thread on the C4 section has a thread on C4s being looked down upon by C5 & C6 guys, Corvette snobbery. I hope that isn't typical as all Corvettes are created equal. I love them all since my first sight of one in the early 60's and my first ride in a new '67. I would love one of every generation and year.
But snobs drive all kinds of cars . I can't imagine why anyone would think they are better when driving a chrome Hummer or Mercedes Maybach . But they are out there.
No, some of my best Vettes have been C4s, or was it that I was younger and traveled with more abandon (many more miles) than I do now with my C5es and the C6 Z06. No I still do the wave at all Vettes. When I'm stopped and confront another vette owner , no matter what series its the wife who has to pry me away. ( The wife has her own Vette, 2000 C5 Torch Red FRC w/ assorted Z06 parts).
As you mention you appreciate most all Vettes because you have experienced them or waited as the new models came out.
Maybe its the cute young thing in that '87 C4 that just waved to me at the light because I'm also in a vette that encourages my enthusiasm, partly that too.

Can't afford a C6 don't really like the "boxy" appearance of the C4 and the C5 just has the draw to it like a moth to a light for me that I have to have it. lol I love all sports cars but the C5 when it came out when I was in High School and I saw my first ones start showing up in the student parking lot only one thought came to mind... you lucky sonofa... I will have one of those before I die. 6 years in the Army later i'm finally in a position to get one and now I just have to wait a long 11 months to get the heck out of the desert and into a leather seat with the wife hitting the twisties I usually reserve for my motorcycle and really seeing what its like to be "that" guy in the corvette.

No way. I really liked the 86 coupe and the 92 convertible that I had. I still like them if they look nice and clean. They made about 1/2 million of them but I hardly see them on the road or at shows. I still like certain things about the C4 ...the clamshell hoods, the digital dash of my 86, the sport seats of my 92, the look of a convertible roof of a C4 vs a C5.

I love all vettes!!! My mom owned vettes all my childhood life. staring with the early to mid 60s including the big block verts split window etc and her last was a black with saddle 82. My mom passed away about a decade ago and although she has passed i still keep her love for the car alive!!! i have owned 5 so far and its because of her that i loved and wanted a vette since i was about 8.
I will talk to anyone with a vette or a car period and wave at every vette i see. Granted some slip past me including fellow club members and friends that say to me when the see me later " hey i seen you the other day and waved but you didnt wave back" Sometimes the car being so low and alot of traffic yea they slip by me sometimes but...... not often
Save the Wave!!
