Default is this a myth?

Does using the seat entry wear out the electronics? I first had someone tell me this the other day and I don't buy it. anyone know?

Of course it does.

Running the engine also wears it out.

You can park it and admire it or drive it and enjoy it.

If it bothers you then don't use the easy entry feature.

Anything that has some type of moving part will wear out eventually. So yes

If you don't use it, and it doesn't wear out, what good was it to have anyway. Use it till it wears out and then don't use it. I doubt you will get in and out enough to wear it out. If so, you'll have the choice to repair it or ignore it.

in the C5 I think the problem comes from how the seat moves back but doesn't move up with the easy entry feature. because of the way the seat is designed (badly I might add) the mechanical components will rub against the carpet if the seat is moved all the way back while its in the lowest position. I ride with my seat as low as it can get, if you do the same your seat will drive the rear vertical adjuster arm into the carpet while moving all the way to the rear.

when I bought mine that rear adjuster arm, the plastic piece, was broken, and there is a rip in the carpet from where it wore through over the years. I turned the feature off. paid $550 to buy a new seat track, and programmed my #2 memory seat button for get out position, all the way back AND all the way up, so the seat doesn't dig into the carpet and cause damage to both. I have to manually hit the button when I get out of the car, but hey, it could be worse!

I think I'd try disconnecting the wires to the motor to rid myself of that.

that is what I did. It would **** me off when the seat would move when I would press the 1 or 2 buttons on the door. I'm the only one that drives it, so I could care less for the easy entry-exit BS.

You know you can turn the easy entry on and off through the DIC, right? LOL

I agree with 65GGvert. As to what your friend is talking about, I believe that the "Easy exit" feature accelerates the deterioration of the rubber isolators that cause the common, "rocking seat" issue on C5s. I just repaired my seats yesterday. Here is a picture of the old isolators. The ones on the left are from the driver’s side and until now, I’ve used the easy exit feature. Bottom line... both sides wore out but the driver's side was worse.

Doesn't much matter when my wife and I swap and each key fob has its own settings (only one of the three motors is out). Sure I can shut it off, but a $50,000 truck with 55k miles shouldn't have as many issues as my truck does. I only put up with Corvettes because no other Car manufacturer has any competition for them. GM has sold me my LAST car or truck. Corvettes will represent the only product they sell me again. My Acura was stupid reliable and aside from our VW I have never had so many issues with a vehicle in my life. The only reason my cluster works is because of the damn recall, or that would be broken too.

Yes the moving parts will waer out but by far the biggest issue I see here is with sticking seat switches causing a drain on the battery

You could say that by using Easy Entry there's less risk of the switches breaking.

Just makes sense that the more you use something, the more wear the parts will have.

That's exactly what my dad said to me. After buying the Solstice GXP, he said he'll never buy another GM ever again. The Solstice is a POS and the quality of every GM we've purchased in the past 10 years has been garbage.

*I*, however, loved my Corvette. I will continue to buy C5s until I see a reason to buy other which I don't see happening anytime soon. Driving my Z06 made me almost as happy as my GF has made me.
