I know my car has a "option/ recall etc" where the AC fan comes on every few min for 30 seconds for like 2 hours while the car is off to dry out the AC vents. This was some recall or update the DLR did. I have the paperwork for it.
My question is this...
I have not drive the car in like 1.5 weeks and I came out this morning to the fan running for the 30 seconds. I have not even had the key in the ignition for 1.5 weeks. I did put the lights on last night to try and change the bulbs but that's it.
Why would this be doing this function when the documentation says it should only do it for 2hrs after the car is shut off?
How can I check it?
I have the car on battery tender so I'm not worried about the battery going dead but want to know why this is happening. I never noticed it before today (had the car for 3.5 yrs now. It may have been doing it but sitting inside covered up I would not notice Just this morning I heard it on my way out.

It was a dealer (or owner) installed option, called a "Delayed Blower Control Module", that became available several years into the C5 production when owners began complaining about musty odor, etc emanating from the HVAC housing, typically after using the A/C. Moisture and/or debris would collect inside, mold and/or mildew would then grow, and the module would keep the fan on after shutdown to dry the inside of the housing to kill or retard mold/mildew growth. There was a TSB issued by GM covering this and the "kit" has installation instructions, etc. Do a search.
There was also a procedure in the shop manual for spraying an anti-fungal "deodorizer" material inside the housing to assist in this effort and to retard future fungal/mold growth. The GM part # for the spray deodorizer is: 12370470
Maybe your module is malfunctioning. I think it's on a straight timer and the device activates the fan after any prior use of the AC. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it's triggered. As far as I know it does not have a temp sensor or moisture detector that would kick the fan on after an extended shutdown period, but I may be wrong on that part.
I called my dlr and they said it could be a program $130~ or a new module is needed $500~
This is not user serviceable on the 2000 vette. This is part of the HVAC system and its not a simple plug and play module like I had hoped for.
If anyone has any experience with how to resolve this let me know. I dont want to do the dlr thing and dont want to waste a bunch of $$ on it.
Thanx
may be ill pull the battery and let it sit for a few. Some times that resets stuff...

It was not an RPO option. The AC Delco division made the unit available for GM and put together the "kit" for dealers to be able to install if a customer was complaining. It was not Corvette specific.
The AC Delco part number is 15-5876 and at least three are currently being sold on Amazon. Price in the $284 - $296 range.
Well its off to the dlr I guess. I left the battery off all night. But as soon as I connected it the fan went off. I did not have time to check any more before work. But I may reconnect and wait a day or so and see if it happens at different times.
It has some force for sure. My softop bows up when it kicks in. That cannot be good foe the top.
well after pulling the battery and making sure i hit the off button on the HVAC system before getting out of the car i have not noticed it happening again.
