Default Door Line

This may be a real stupid question but I've had trouble finding the answer. Why do some corvette have the line coming from the front vent but some don't?

In case my description is bad, this is what I mean...this one has it.

and this one doesn't.

Thanks for the help!

It was an option available from the factory for something like $150. Personally I prefer them but as hinted at above... this seems to be one of those divisive issues on the C5 forum.

BSMs. They're used to increase stability at high speeds (think side spoilers).

Coupled with the performance hood seal, the positive pressure inside the engine bay was let out through the side vents and alongside the side spoilers making the car much more stable at high speeds.

I wondered why when I removed my BSMs the stability was noticeably worse. I am thinking about putting them back on. Does color make a difference?

The molding was simply an option that you could order on the car. A lot of owners that bought the car with the molding on have since removed it, but it is simply a personal preference. I like the moldings myself.

Well white absorbs the least amount of light, so basic physics tells us that having white BSMs makes your car lighter.

On the other hand, black absorbs the most amount of light which helps suck you through the air a lot more.

It all depends on what you're going for I suppose.

Why give the guy a smartass answer? Just goes to prove that while there may not be dumb questions, there certainly are dumb answers.

You guys this is a rough drawing but it is "SPOT" on with the dimensions. These are what I took off a factory Vette with the BSM's installed. Funny looking but they are accurate!

I bought mine used from a forum member and re-painted them myself (Black is Black so it was pretty simple to color match )

There are two pics of the same drawing, one may be easier to see Here you go:

And of course always let me know what you think any extra questions feel free to call!

Thanks,Matt 661-406-7516

Usually they guys that have the BSM's want to remove them and the guys that don't have them want to install them.

I've been in both camps! Had a black C5 that didn't have them. I wanted to install them, but didn't. Sold that car. Then a couple of years later bought my pewter C5. It had them, but after awhile I removed them. Liked the look much better without them. I sold them on eBay for $150 to someone that didn't have them, but wanted them.
