im looking to take out the stock deck and put in a double din screen...
anybody done this?
whats a good model?
im just looking for ipod hook up maybe navi option if its cheap enough
any ideas or places i should look?

....oh there have been a few mods like this done on this board. Do a search under "double din mod" and you will find plenty of threads.

Dennis from Double D Mods (supporting vendor) will probably chime in shortly...

The OEM GM stock head unit is a 1.5 din deck. If you don't want to perform the double din mod that requires you to use a modified center console/bezel, you can still peform the upgrade, however your head unit choice will be more limited. One common option is to install a fold out/NAV system where the unit comes out and folds up over the center air vents.

...or you may just want to stick with a single din head unit.

This is a pioneer in-dash Navigation,IPOD,DVD... Love the way it looks and operates. Previous owner did a very nice job with the install..

need to modify the bezel via Dennis @ DDMods in order to fit. it's not a straight swap.

Just installed a single din slide out from pioneer today and WOW what a difference and if you do change your deck definitely talk to Dennis he's the man he backs up what he sells and says a rare combination these days so good luck with choosing its not cheap or easy

Many, many forum members have taken out the stock radio and put in a double din unit.

Go to the audio/electronics side of the forum or just do a search here for other posts.
