you guys are crazy. i LOVE modding my car. i will be sad when there is nothing left to mod lol. i guess when i am done modding, then i can spend more time on keeping the car looking new.
Just cause I am a good guy, I will let you help me.
Now I know how a crack addict feels, when I run out of money and can't buy parts I start itching and twitching. Speaking of which I just got my tax money and I'm headed to the parts for sale section to get my fix.

How did you get your refund? I haven't paid my tax bill yet!
I was a purest with my previous 2 vettes! Bone stock for all the time I owned them. When I bought my 02 it was going to be bone stock too. Then one day I was surfing the Internet and came across this damn place and well the next thing you know I'm shelling out money right and left. Started out with Corsa Cat backs and then went to the Blackwing. Well that was fun so I invested in a tune that got me another 20hp. Well then I started reading about swapping out the wimpy 2:73 gears in my A4 and all of a sudden I'm buying and installing new RPM 3:42's along with a new RPM level IV transmission and a yank SS3200 stall. Then I upgrade brakes, lines and rotors. and then wheels and tires! Well what's next? Most likely a supercharger and LT headers.
To each their own, but I couldn't possibly leave my Vette stock. I'm the kind of person who wants to roll down the road in the only monster car within about 20 miles that make those V6-Mustang driving cheap-skates fear for their life. But that's just me.

Do yourself a favor and get yourself a Kenne Bell twin screw, a Spec Stage 3 (or twin disc) clutch and race cam. You'll have one badass street car. Your wallet will also be about $10k lighter, too, if you do the installs yourself.
Update 8/7/2010: Got the 3.90's (Love them) and found a used JL Stealthbox sitting in the garage waiting for me to buy the rest of the audio gear....
I hear you! My car has forced me to spend big $$$ on modding it! Now, it trying to make upgrade the speakers and sub, and whispering in my ear about installing some 3.90 gears or some custom leather interior. This car is the DEVIL...
OK, I confess, I'm having an affair with my 1999 Black C5 corvette... that was the line I told my girlfriend. But I said, consider the options, I could have an affair with another woman, I could be a drug user, I could become a beer drinking bowler, I could be a gambler with other vette drivers... She decided to share me with my girl... life is wonderful now...
i said the same thing with my '02 Z when i bought it a 4 years ago, and 10's of thousands of dollars later i guess i was wrong with the whole "im leaving this one stock". now im planning mods for the new C6z when i get it.
I feel your pain. I got a second c5 to be my daily driver after dumping a fortune into my 1st one. I told myself that there's no need to mod the DD and that I'm not going to waste money on it. So far it has CAI, LT's, no cats, straight pipes, solid motor mounts, and throttlebody. Working on a cam. This is for the car that I told myself I was gonna leave stock. Modding cars is definitely an addiction.

I keep thinking, it's an LS1 I should supercharge it. Then my gas mileage would go to hell, which would defeat the whole point of commuting in a Vette.
hells yeah i feel you on the money pit thing. In about 2 monts i have spent close to 5000. With the new rims and tires, 9 peice light set, rotors, breaks, and a bunch more. Ahhhh so much more to do.
It started with my bicycle, when I was 10, never ended been through motorcycles, mtn bikes, Pickups, Hatches and now a vette. I have modest plans so far but see a twin turbo in the future.
