They are a big drag when up, not down. There was an aero test in one of the magazines not too long ago that talked about this.
The C5 was pretty aerodynamic, the C6 less so because of it's wider front, but that also helps with down force at high speeds.
None the less, everybody has different tastes. RadioFlyers products are very well designed and fill a need for the guy or gal who wants to customize their vette.
If you don't like what you see, you should just move on to another thread.
