black wheel help
I'm going to pull the trigger. I'm painting or powdercoating my speedlines. I have a 04 black C5Z, the question is what shade of black for the wheels ?? Gloss/Semi-gloss/Flat/Matte. Some of the all black C5's look killer then some look so-so. I think the shade of black on the wheels plays a big role. So whats everybodys suggestion ?? And some pics to back up your opinion would be great! Thanks

I'm a gloss fan myself. That's what I have and love them when shined up.
Old pics
Check out my website gallery. There are a few black Vettes in there with black wheels.

This is a nice matte black wheel just so you can see what it looks like. I had some on a C5 somewhere, but can't find them anymore.

If it were me, I think I would go with the gloss black finish.

My old car when I had gloss.
My new car with Satan finish. Specifically BBQ Black. I spray painted them to see if I liked them before i powder coat them. I love the Satan it gives much more of a tuner look!

Wheels get dirty fast. Matt / Flat black looks good if the wheels are clean or dirty

I have gloss black on my Ram they need constant cleaning. The satin black wheels on the Vette need much less attention.

Thanks for all the feedback. Great looking cars. So is there a difference between matte/ satin/ semi-gloss ?? They seem to be different words for the same finish. Or maybe matte/ satin/ flat ?? Right/Wrong??? Thanks!!

Then go with gloss. If you don't like it, just don't clean them. Best of both worlds.

I had my rims painted body color black and a clear coat so that they match the car. Kept the rim edges and the barrel all the way to the spokes masked to keep the stock silver color visible. Inside of the barrel is painted black. I think that they look great. - sorry no pic available.
